About Me

My name is James Randi - perhaps you've heard of me?
I have plied my trade as an illusionist and escapologist since the 1940s. More recently I have devoted my time to running the James Randi Educational Foundation ( JREF ). I created the Foundation in 1996 to educate the public and the media on the consequences of blindly accepting paranormal and supernatural claims, and to support research into paranormal claims with tests in controlled, scientific conditions. To this end, the Foundation offers a prize of one million U.S. dollars which we will pay out to anyone who can demonstrate a supernatural or paranormal ability, under agreed-upon scientific protocol.
