Murky Depths - Come to my Arms my Beamish Boy

About Me

..
I'm a writer of short stories, which are the kind your English teacher assigned you to read over the weekend and which are the easiest to pretend you read on Monday. Someday I'll try to write a whole book, but that's scary. Like Jaws. If you're interested, here's a running tab of my writing credits:
Stickhead - MudRock: Stories and Tales ; Vol 4/Issue 2, Spring/summer 2006
That Old Sandlands Fever - Apex Digest ; Issue 7, Fall 2006
Through the Many Corridors - Pseudopod ; #19, 05 Jan 2007.
Come to my Arms my Beamish Boy - Murky Depths ; Issue 1
Neat, huh? A short list, yeah, but a nice one.
Please take a look at my website. It's finally up!

I am married to an amazing lady. You'd like her. She's a real looker.

My Interests

Stiff drinks, loose morals.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet other writers, fans of speculative fiction, and people I already know in real life. And not shitty bands.

I enjoy David Lynch, Louis Bunuel, Wes Craven, Dario Argento, Frederico Fellini, David Cronenberg, loads of Japanese and Korean stuff (Tetsuo: The Iron Man comes to mind, as does Oldboy), and stuff from Troma.

Douglas Adams , Richard Bachman , Clive Barker , Poppy Z. Brite , Anthony Burgess , Kealan Patrick Burke , William S. Burroughs , Bruce Campbell , Ramsey Campbell , Albert Camus , Miguel de Cervantes , Raymond Chandler , Roald Dahl , Philip K. Dick , William Faulkner , Neil Gaiman , Ray Garton , William Gibson , Franz Kafka , Brian Keene , Jack Kerouac , Hideyuki Kikuchi , Stephen King , Michael Laimo , Stephen Laws , Richard Laymon , Tim Lebbon , Edward Lee , Dennis Lehane , Elmore Leonard , C.S. Rowling , Jean-Paul Sartre , Mary Shelly , David J. Skal , Jon Stewart , Peter Straub , Hunter S. Thompson , J.R.R. Tolkien , Voltaire , Kurt Vonnegut
Yeah, I know that's a pretty obnoxious list, but if you just choose one of those writers at random and pick up a book of theirs, trust me, they all fuckin' rock.
Some Comic Books I Enjoy:

The King

The Fonz

My Personal Lord and Savior

The Mo*Con Report, Pt. 1: The Road to Mauriclemania

Day 1 (Thursday, June 12th)Strange stuff always seems to happen to me the day before I make a con appearance.  When I went to Horrorfind for the first time, I initially went to the wrong airport ...

iconoclasts are lazy bastards.

Self-publishing is not a revolution.  Using PoD technology to get awful looking copies of your unreadable horror novel does not make you a genre iconoclast.  The publishing industry works t...

2008 Writing Year in Preview

Maurice Broaddus is a more centered man than I.  And does not, I believe, give himself enough credit.  Guy sold as many shorts in a year as I have sold since I started writing.  Oh...

They came for me and put me on Dead Row...

The amount of time I spent on this is really ridiculous

Don't hate me. It's frightening how easy replicating my wardrobe really is.  What's even more frightening is how easy it is to replicate my living room.   EDIT:  I should add that this...

A Black Friday Request

As a former mall employee who suffered through half a decade's worth of Black Fridays, I have a relatively simple request to make to all you less intelectually blessed holiday shoppers:When Circuit Ci...

Random Observations

Why in the name of a sweet holy Christ, or any Christ for that matter, let's say a butt-fucking quasi-retarded Christ, would any country hire a defense contractor called Blackwater?  That's a fuc...

Taking off my writer pants and putting on my fanboy ski-mask

Allow me to wax Wizard Magazinesque (lol wut?) for just a second here.  Stephen King's 'Dark Tower' books are something of a fanboy obsession of mine.  I love every part of them, right from ...
