Our Programs:
Support Groups:
Children’s Cancer Community holds three support groups each month. Our support group meetings are held in Sonoma, Santa Rosa and Fairfield with families from all over the North and East Bay Areas participating. Our support group meetings are open to the entire family. Dinner is provided free of charge and the meetings are facilitated by a licensed counselor.Cancer Survival Kits:
Our Cancer Survival Kits provide an invaluable amount of resources and gifts for children diagnosed with cancer and their families. The kits include a folder full of cancer resources and other printed materials customized for the child’s diagnosis, their age and gender, and the hospital where they are being treated. The kits also include a variety of gifts such as: knit hats, handmade blankets, baseballs hats, coloring books, cancer related books, stuffed animals, childhood cancer wristbands, pens and pencils, toy cars, and gift cards for groceries, gas, restaurants. Our Cancer Survival Kits contain gifts and resources worth hundreds of dollars.Memorial Scholarships:
Our Memorial Scholarship program was started as a way to honor the children that we have lost. The scholarships are given to honor the memory of of David Mello, Cari Bridgeman, Rachel Ann Shiery, Catherine Michelle Scovill, Kole Riggs, Nick Malkassian, Brandon Times, Brandon Grossi, Nick Snow, and Taylor Lamke. By supporting students’ college education with annual scholarships we honor the children we have lost to cancer year after year. Click the following link for information about our scholarship program .Family Assistance:
When a family has a child diagnosed with cancer, the lives of all the family members are turned upside down. And even the most financially stable families have struggled during cancer treatments. Even with good insurance, medical costs can be astronomical. Some medications cost more than $100 per pill. Then there are the bridge tolls, parking, gas, phone, and time off work. The Children's Cancer Community's family assistance program helps families pay for everything from utility bills to fun escapes. Since 1998 Children's Cancer Community has given $295,183.00 for direct Family Assistance.Special Events and Activities:
Children’s Cancer Community regularly organizes special events and activities for our families. Some of the events and activities we regularly organize are: San Francisco Giants game outings, Holiday Parties. Other event and activities that we have organized include: camping trips, river rafting weekends, Scandia Family Fun Center outings, pottery workshops. For information about upcoming events and activities please visit our Current Calendar page.Bone Marrow Drives:
Children’s Cancer Community helps to raise awareness of the need for bone marrow transplants, and we are committed to saving lives by adding more people to the National Marrow Donor Program’s international database registry. Since 1998 CCC has added almost 600 new people to the registry by funding and publicizing bone marrow testing drives.Cancer Library:
CCC has a cancer library available to our members and their families. Our library consists of many different books that have donated to us and that we have purchased. We have a wide variety of books and we are regularly expanding our collection.
