All things cancer - but of course finding a cure for this disease.
ICANCERVIVE looks to meet all those people who have yet to be touched by cancer. We also love to meet survivors and fighters to whom we have been able to offer laughter and hope through our merchandise and our message.(Top)Founders of ICANCERVIVE Donna and Tricia take a moment to smile for the camera before the ACS Walk in 2003. (Bottom) We are always looking for a good laugh. What better way than with these hats given to us at the 2003 ACS Walk in West Palm.
Well, this is what we talk about. Laughing and cancer. This is what happened after I got my hands on a marker and her head. I know she doesn't like to be seen this way, but this IS what cancer looks like. Can't really escape that reality. We did however, laugh ALOT! I found her this way on one of my weekly visits. I never really knew what I was going to find on the other side of the door.We talked about her losing her hair, and I joked that she should go BLUE. If people were going to stare, might as well give them something interesting to look at. The next week, this is what I found.
I remember this day well. She was back at work and so in love with life that it was like an infectious thing you couldn't escape. Cancer was in remission, the hair grew back and she was ready to take on the world. Before she did that, I convinced her to put a feather on her head.
Our heroes are all those who show us courage and strength through their fight with cancer. We were working on our website, and Donna decided to proudly display the fact that she is a Survivor. I like the gold. This picture was taken nearly 1 year to the date of her diagnosis. I like to call this her victory lap.
