Heroes:

The Venezuelan "Sistema" of youth orchestras (currently numbering over 200 orchestras with more than 250,000 young participants) has caused Sir Simon Rattle to say: "The future of classical music lies in Venezuela."
FAYM is an enthusiastic advocate for promoting the tenants of this incredible program throughout the United States.
Gustavo Dudamel...who has been conducting the top Venezuelan Youth Orchestra since he was 19 years old, is now 26 and will become the new Music Director of the Las Angeles Philharmonic next year!
WHAT FAYM HAS ACCOMPLISHED IN ITS FIRST FIVE MONTHS!Krzysztof Rucinski, 18-year-old violinist from Poznan, Poland came to the United States for the first time last December to perform in Arizona and Nevada as soloist with orchestra and in recital with sponsorship from FAYM. Kryzsztof has been accepted to the Eastman School of Music beginning fall 2008 to study with Oleh Krysa under a full tuition & expenses scholarship provided by Eastman and FAYM.
Under the banner of the FAYM, Las Vegas pianist Corbin Beisner performed the Beethoven C minor Piano Concerto with the Lafayette Symphony on January 19th. Harold Weller, FAYM Trustee and Conductor Laureate of the Las Vegas Philharmonic, conducted.
With coordination assistance from FAYM, Australian pianist Thomas Bromley visited the United States for the first time for University auditions in Las Vegas, NV and Boulder, Colorado in February, 2008.
"VICTORIOUS RETURNS!" a private recital on Sunday, May 18th in Las Vegas will showcase five of the best and brightest young musicians who grew up in LV and have gone on to prestigious music schools. Pianists Alexandria Le and Corbin Beisner; violinist James Reinarz, & Jeremy Rhizor; and violist Toby Roth will be featured as well as Suzuki Violinists from the Nevada School of the Arts.
With assistance from FAYM, the Las Vegas Youth Philharmonic is closing the income gap for making its target budget which will allow the orchestra to tour to Vienna, Salzburg, and Prague in June -- it's first ever trip to Europe!
Planning is going forward to institute and augment Suzuki Violin training opportunities in the Las Vegas Valley.
Much more is in the planning stages! Please stay tuned!
