About Me

This young Spanish composer is the First Prize Winner in the “XIV International Composition Competition for Classical Guitar ANDRES SEGOVIA” (La Herradura, Almuñécar, Granada, Spain 2001), First Prize Winner of the “First ILAMS International Composition Competition” (London 2001), First Prize Winner in the “First International Composition Competition JOSE ASUNCION FLORES” (UNESCO – Paraguay 2000), and the “CINTAS FELLOWSHIP 2003” (New York), among others.
This eminent composer was born in Havana in 1969 of direct Asturian descent and a French great grandmother, completing his studies in Composition at the Instituto Superior de Arte of Cuba in 1994 and at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid in 1996. Eduardo Morales-Caso’s extensive catalogue brings together pieces of various formats where symphonic music, chamber music, vocal-instrumental scores, solo and electro-acoustic music all find their place. His biography and catalogue of works appears in the “Spanish Ibero-american Dictionary of Music”.
His work has been premièred and played by many internationally acclaimed artists, among them Edoardo Catemario, Duncan Gifford, María Esther Guzmán, Eglise Gutiérrez, Julia Malkova, Mickaéle Granados, Iliana Matos, Vera Paskaleva, Pilar Jurado, Antón Gakkel, Karén Martirossian, Davide Bandieri, Anders Clemens, Mario Ancillotti, Conchita Franqui, Luis Orden, Nuria Orbea, Roman Viazovskiy, Rafael Gálvez, Segio Sola, Emilio Robles, Simeón Galduf, Ananda Sukarlan, Mauricio Vallina, Karina Azizova, Claudia Yépes, Victor Ardelean, Laurentiu Lucian Grigorescu, Alejandro López, René Mora, Raul Benavent, Julia Iglinova, Mario Torrijo, Rubén Parejo, Michael Pearson, Anthony Maydwell, Todd Goranson, Yong Tae Kim, Insomnio Ensemble and the Cervantes Trio, among others. His compositions have been played in many international venues such as The Royal Opera House (Madrid), Juan March Foundation (Madrid), Canal Foundation (Madrid), St. John’s Smith Square (London), Ijsbreker Hall (Amsterdam), Mappamondo Hall (Siena), Witold Lutoslawski Hall (Warsaw), Okurayama-Kinen Hall (Tokyo) and Auer Hall (Bloomington, USA). Festivals which have hosted Morales-Caso’s works include the 47th Festival of Music and Dance of Granada, Festival of Music and Dance “Ciudad de Úbeda” (2002), Q-ba Música 2004 (Amsterdam), Festival de Música Española de León (2006) and the Festival Internazionale di Chitarra (Roma 2007) amongst other prestigious musical events. Scores by him can be found on different CDs: In the Darkness of the Soul, a concert habanera for clarinet and piano is included on the recording From Cuba to Catalunya, an Anthology of Concert Habaneras (Sabadell Picap. 1997) in homage to Xavier Montsalvatge; The Garden of Lindaraja, fantasy for guitar (Valencia, Gadiraifa, 2004) and Introduction and Toccata, fantasy for flute and guitar (Sevilla, Lindoro 2004). His works have been published by EMEC, Artetripharia and Periferia Sheet Music.
The artistic achievements of Eduardo Morales-Caso have revealed him to be a composer whose creative strength and works have become recognised by the public in concert halls, by musical critics and through the prizes he has received for his participation in prestigious international competitions.
In Eduardo Morales-Caso´s style there is a high level of artistic options, as can be seen in these recordings, which allow him ample creative freedom, where influences and references serve to convey his capacity for reception and selection within the sonorous landscape which surrounds him and which feeds his exceptional inventiveness as a composer.
