The Chamber Music Foundation of New England

Mentoring the next generation of chamber musicians

About Me

The Chamber Music Foundation of New England (CMFoNE) has evolved from a collaboration of people of different musical and business backgrounds, but with a shared passion and vision of creating an organization that will solely focus on promoting the genre of chamber music.
Our mission is to pass precious artistic traditions and insights to the next generation of musicians. We have introduced multiple venues to accomplish this mission. The Chamber Music Festival (CMF) of New England provides young and amateur musicians with an opportunity to accelerate their artistic growth and to excel in their chamber musical skills by collaborating and performing together with professional musicians in a chamber music ensemble. The other venue, International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition has been created to provide young and amateur chamber music ensembles from around the world with an opportunity to compete with each other in their respective age group and to perform in the best Music Halls of New England and New York. We strive to bring the best of chamber music to as many people as possible, with the hope and anticipation that they will find in it a sense of balance and fulfillment, discover meaning, and connection to others. We are focusing on:
-educating and involving audiences in experiencing the beauty of chamber music through lectures, concerts, festivals and training;
-passing the chamber music artistic traditions to the next generation of musicians through nurturing, collaboration and encouragement;
-and promoting young chamber music ensembles from around the world and providing them with support, recognition and an opportunity to perform in the best Music Halls of New England and New York.

"At a time when interest in classical music is waning in the US , initiatives like this are critical to support students interested in chamber music. The program enables a student to choose to perform a piece from varied and challenging repertoire, and by working closely with professionals, inspires the student to attain new levels of achievement."
--Alan & Gerry Ertel, Parents of David Ertel, Lexington, MA

"I'm writing to say thank you from the whole Midday Quartet for an amazing experience with CMFoNE. It's changed us as musicians. I can assure you that CMFoNE will have a great reputation in the jazz world from now on! Please pass this on to everyone who helped set up this opportunity: Keep it up. What you do changes young musicians' lives."
--Malcolm Campbell, Midday Quartet, ICMEC Grand Prize Winner, Lexington, MA

"I had such an inspiring and uplifting experience playing the "Trout" piano quintet with CMFoNE musicians. These professional musicians accepted me as an equal member of the group, allowing me to express my own views and ideas. My school schedule is very busy but the Trout rehearsals were such a highlight for me that I looked forward to every one of them; an unforgettable experience for me."
