The Art Farm

Cultivating Creativity

About Me

The Art Farm is the brain child of my husband Damien and myself. In 2004 we started our own art glass company, Dizzy Lizard Creations, and knew right away that we wanted to share our creativity with other artists. The Art Farm started off as a dream of an art house cafe and has snowballed into a non-profit artists collective. We envision a self-sustaining, evironmentally friendly campus serving underprivileged youth who may other wise not be able to afford the materials and supplies to feed their creativity. Our instructors will reside on-campus, sharing inspiration, experience, and techniques, learning from each other, and exploring their own creative avenues. We intend to have a revolving cadre of instructors, representing as many varied disciplines of creativity as possible. Our vision is to create an environmentally sustainable sanctuary for the creative arts. We seek to bring together struggling artists, successful artists, art instructors, and future artists; and to provide them with an inspirational environment in which to develop their talents together. Our goal is to preserve the creative arts and the inner spark which drives them, for the benefit of all society. Our mission is to procure and develop property on which to develop a self-sustaining, environmentally friendly collective of artists dedicated to the preservation of the creative arts. The goals of the collective include educating, inspiring, and motivating future generations of artists by providing art instruction and supplies to those who could not otherwise obtain them. Over the last several years we have cultivated the idea and nourished it, making it grow into this perfect dream. The time has come to manifest our dreams and make the Art Farm a reality. This page is one step in the manifestation process, allowing us to establish a network of artists, supporters of the arts, and like-minded individuals. We plan to use this space to keep that network informed on our plans, current status, and to maintain communication as we establish our non-profit status, collect donations, and develop the property. Chech back often for updates, and be sure to check our blog for progress reports!
The Art Farm is adding a store front to our MySpace page. The store will be used as a fund raising tool to help us meet our financial goals, AND as a promotion site for other artists. We aren't asking you to send us any product, we aren't asking you to pay for posting your work in our store in advance. You set the price of your work, you hold your work, you ship your work to the buyer. As a fund raiser, all we are asking from you, is a tax deductible donation of any amount you choose ( a donation is not mandatory to participate, but is greatly appreciated). The storefront site we use does cost us 7% on every sale ( very reasonable), so they take 7% at the time of sale to cover the cost. As soon as the payment on the sale of your work has cleared, The Art farm will transfer the remaining 93% into your PayPal account and contact you with the customer info so you can ship the order. YOU get to decide when and how much to donate back to the Art Farm. Anything goes...musicians, painters, photographers...whatever you create, let us help you market yourself, while you help a great cause! If you're interested in getting involved, send us a message! Include your name, location, a brief bio (300 words or less, please!), a large (5MP+) photo of what you want to post, and a description of the item. Don't forget to tell us how much you want for it!!The store will go live on the page on or about December 20,2007, so be sure to stop back by and check out all the great artwork from our supporters! Thank you all, and we look forward to hearing from you!

My Interests

Music, drawing, painting, charcoals, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, glassblowing, glass fusing, mosaics, cooking, woodcarving, sculpting, abstracts, portraits, recycled art, cartoons, caricatures, dancing, airbrushing, tattooing, body art, computer assisted design, graphic design, computer networking, computer repair, web design, body modification, murals, industrial art, metalworking, blacksmithing, swordsmithing, gemology, jewelry making, metallurgy, silver- and goldsmithing, stone polishing, stonecarving, mold making, lost-wax casting, sandcasting, solar power, wind turbines, green energy, filmmaking, renewable building materials, recycling, botany, organic gardening, sustainable energy, alternative fuels, sustainable living, sustainable farming, animal husbandry, wildlife conservation...get the picture? There are too many more things to list here...and so many more that we haven't even discovered yet!

I'd like to meet:

First and foremost, artists, art instructors, art brokers and art lovers...in ANY medium. (see Interests! ;P) The heart of the Art Farm will be the artists who donate their time to teach there, the students who come to broaden their artistic horizons, and the patrons who collect the works of the Art Farm. No matter what form your creative spark takes, we love the spark itself!

We'd also like to meet anyone who has advice on the establishment and operation of non-profit organizations, whether from a legal standpoint or from personal experience.
One of the fundamental values of the Art Farm is that of sustainability, not only in our energy supplies, but in our farming techniques, building technologies, and lifestyle. To that end, we want to meet anyone with information on green energy (wind, solar, AND water), environmentally friendly building materials and techniques, sustainable farming, wildlife conservation, or alternative fuels and engines. Anything you can teach us, we will pass on to the students who come to the Farm.

If you can donate recycled building materials, new or gently used art materials, farm implements, tools, seeds, paints, kilns, clay, brushes, pastels, charcoals, etc., please let us know!

Last but not least, we need to meet financial supporters. If you're an artist who is no longer "starving", a businessperson who appreciates "outside the box" thinking, or just someone who thinks the Art Farm is a good cause to support, please contact us! Remember, no donation is too small, because pennies add up to dollars, and minutes add up to hours!
