About Me

..
..I recently lost my stepfather to Lung Cancer and it has changed my life forever. Once I saw how little awareness there is on Lung Cancer, I decided to start this page to spread awareness. Even though I am just one person, I am also aware that it starts from one. PLEASE HELP ME SPREAD AWARENESS FOR LUNG CANCER!!Thank you all for your support!!!

I'd like to meet:

Lung cancer takes more lives each year than breast prostate, colon, kidney, melanoma and liver cancers combined. The Lung cancer resource is 11 years behind the breast cancer research. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States. Lung Cancer causes 30% of the cancer deaths.Lung cancer will kill nearly twice as many women as breast cancer this year alone and will kill 3 times as many men as prostate cancer this year.Even though lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States, it is not as visible and that is most evident when you learn that the color of the ribbon for lung cancer is clear. There is a reason for the lack of color; it represents the fact that it is a silent killer.**Over 50% of new lung cancer cases will be diagnosed at a very late stage (stage III or IV) and only 50% of them will live for 5 years**~~~Lung Cancer testing should be done yearly~~~

Lungevity is for people who are fighting lung cancer. It provides information and resources and, via the Forum, an opportunity for those touched by lung cancer to share their experiences. For more information on Lungevity please visit www.lungevity.comFor more information on Lung Cancer and/or the Lung Cancer Alliance please visit www.lungcanceralliance.org

..In December 2006, this silent killer touched my life. My stepfather at the very young age of 46 was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer.Keith was a hard working man who just started his own business in handyman work. Keith had a flu for 2 weeks that he couldn't get rid of. In mid October he went to the hospital and thats when our lives changed forever. After many treatments of radiation and chemo, he just kept getting worse. Keith had a very tough battle but fortunately for him it only last 2 months. December 20, 2006, Keith passed away from Lung Cancer. When he was diagnosed, he was already in stage III adeno carcinoma.SIGN THE PETITION

To: U.S President and U.S CongressJoin the 16624 people who have already signed or downloaded the petition to make lung cancer a national public health priority. Lung cancer continues to be the single biggest cancer killer. In 2007, an estimated 160,390 will die of lung cancer; more people than breast, prostate, colon, liver, melanoma, and kidney cancers combined. Few people are even aware that lung cancer kills three times as many men as prostate cancer, and nearly twice as many women as breast cancer. Prostate cancer has a 99 percent 5-year survival rate and breast cancer has an 88 percent 5-year survival rate. Over 50 percent of new lung cancer cases will be diagnosed at a very late stage—Stage IIIb or IV. Lung cancer has a 5-year survival rate of only 15 percent. That means that 85 percent of people who get lung cancer die within five years. THIS MUST CHANGE. We, the undersigned, call on the President of the United States and the Congress to make early detection, treatment, and chemoprevention of lung cancer a national public health priority. We also call for adequate new funding to increase the overall 5-year survival rate to at least 50 percent by 2015
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
