I am here for Networking

About Me

Hi Everyone! My name is Lindsay. I made this site to help inform others and myself about the many different types of cancer. I claim to know nothing! Everything I put on here I am just learning myself, so please if I am wrong about anything don't hesitate to say so!My initial reasoning behind why I wanted to start this site is because my mother was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in the late 90's. When they found the cancer she had surgery to remove it, but about 2 years ago the cancer returned full force. Now she is nearing her death and she has inspired me to teach not only myself, but others as well. She is an inspiration to not only me, but my family as well. A true fighter! Who recently passed on July 28, 2007. To the Moon and Back Mom!!I myself was just recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I have had two surgeries to remove my thyroid and in a few weeks I will be going to have the radioactive iodine treatments. It's been a scary ride, but I will survive! I just wish I could say the same for my mother.

My Interests

Hey everyone. If you click the melanoma ribbon below it will take you to the site I created in memory of my mother, Laurie, who passed away from this terrible disease. Please check it out if you get a minute. Leave a message or light a candle. Thanks!

Cancer begins with one cell and may take many years before it develops. Cancer mutations happen from your DNA being damaged causing the cells to grow and become cancerous. These mutations allow a cancer cell to live beyond a normal cell life span which causes the cancerous cells to accumulate.
