I wish to bring awareness about cancer. I enjoy gardening, meditation, anything outdoors. The Focus on a Cure FoundationNATIONAL PARKINSON FOUNDATIONThank You SuziOvarian cancer is the leading cause of gynecologic cancer deaths among American women. One woman out of every 55 will develop ovarian cancer at some point in her lifetime, with over 16,000 deaths in the last year. Only 24 percent of ovarian cancers are diagnosed at an early stage, when the cancer is confined to the ovary. Most cases are diagnosed after the cancer has spread to other parts of the body, making it difficult to treat successfully. For the small number of women who are fortunate enough to have their cancer diagnosed before it has spread beyond the ovary, the chance for recovery is 85 to 90 percent. For the majority of women in whom the disease has spread beyond the ovary, the chance of living for five years after the diagnosis is 20 to 25 percent.

Hope A little word, but a powerful tool. Some studies have found that it can make a difference in who survives. Every day that passes increases the survivor's hope that the disease is really gone. New discoveries are edging closer and closer to treatments that will really mean a cure. Vaccines are being developed that may actually prevent cancer from starting. These are not here, but they are possibilities. They provide hope. The true secret to preventing cancer from stealing your life is to hold on to hope. Hope can't be stolen from you. You can only throw it away. If you keep it close, it will safeguard everything you value. Hope for a CURE
