I live in the country and enjoy the outdoors. I like to garden - growing roses is my passion and also enjoy arts and crafts. I have had Lupus and Myasthenia Gravis (both autoimmune diseases for over 10 years. Last year I was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. I've never smoked so this came as a big shock. I had surgery and 4 chemo treatments and am over one year in cancer remission.
Lung cancer is the No. 1 cancer killer of men and women - over breast, ovarian, colon, and prostate cancer. Yet it receives the less funding for research and studies than these other cancers. Why? Because of lung cancer being associated with smoking. However more and more people are diagnosed daily who have never smoked or been around smoke at all. In an effort to help with lung cancer awareness, I've joined the Lung Cancer Alliance as well as their community forum for support and information.
