South Africa is a musical enigma…and a treasure chest because of it. The people sing when they’re happy and when they’re protesting. Cultures abound like explosions so it’s not surprising to find an Afrikaans musician (wearing rainbow colored pants) selecting English from the nine official languages as his vehicle to the world. Then again, the music is so damned good the world may be surprised into jumping up and down at the same time.
BOON is a consummate entertainer and songwriter invigorating the emotions of his listeners. The music is powerful and always enriched with melody.
Despite BOON’s zany stage antics as a crowd pleaser, the themes of his music relate down-to-earth, everyday life, running the full gamut from kissing to loneliness, birth to death. No matter what form the songs are delivered in, it’s always music for the masses.
BOON currently fronts the energetic band Dakota whilst simultaneously expanding his solo, acoustic career. Most fans came to know him through the highly popular Movie55 which attained vast, South African radio play, scoring several top ten and number one rock ‘n roll hits. Ever extending his boundaries, BOON is currently in studio recording dance tracks.
Outside of collaborations, sole-composed songs played on radio include:
‘Is Anyone In There?’
‘Kiss Me’
‘Punk From The UK’
‘Rat Race’
BOON is managed by Wicked Rock (www.myspace.com/wickedbandz).
