About Me

Autopilot was joined by front woman Jade in late 2006 and released the EP 'Beautiful' in April 2007 with this line-up. In late 2007, Brigette joined Autopilot and has transformed the band into what it is today. Front woman Brigette (vocals) along with Shane (guitar/vocals), Sykes (guitar), Dutch (bass) and Nixx (drums) have had a fair share of success in a relatively short period of time.
This Cape Town pop/rock act has played some of the biggest stages in the country and entertained fans alongside the likes of the Parlotones, Prime Circle, Wonderboom, Stealing Love Jones and Evolver to name but a few.
The first single and EP title track, 'Beautiful', released countrywide through Bowline Music, peaked at no.1 on Kovsie FM's SA Hot 30 in May 2008. The video for 'Beautiful' also reached no.4 on MK's Top 10 in December 2007 and is featured on the MK DVD3 available countrywide. This song also peaked at no.2 on the samp3.com download charts in 2008 and was featured on a Billabong surf production on Supersport in December 2008. The track 'My Desire' off the same EP was selected for the broadcast of the FHM Calendar 2009 TV special on MNET at the end of November 2008.
Autopilot was involved in the SABC3 production 'Pump up the Volume' in November/December 2007, which aired on Sunday nights at 21:30. Autopilot was selected as one of the Top 6 bands in the country for this show where they competed against the rest of the finalists in Johannesburg. This was followed up by an interview on Radio 2000.
Autopilot won the sponsored Battle of the Bands competition at Ku De Ta, Tygervalley in Cape Town in May 2008. This was followed up by a major sponsorship deal with the brand Jagermeister. Autopilot's new single 'Mono', featuring the powerful vocals of Brigette, was play listed on MFM, UJFM, Kovsie FM, TUKS FM and UCT Radio in June/July 2008. 'Mono' also peaked at no.1 on the samp3.com download charts in mid August 2008.
This melodic pop/rock band supported Prime Circle at the Barnyard Theatre, Willow Bridge in Cape Town at the end of August 2008. They also played the SADD (South African's Against Drunk Driving) charity event and ZIMFEST 08 along with Freshly Ground, the Dirty Skirts, Plush, the Shy Guevaras and many more in September 2008.
Autopilot travelled to Johannesburg in late November 2008 to share the stage with South Africa's biggest bands for the WOODSTOCK 10 festival held at the Riversands Farm.
Autopilot began recording their new album ‘A Broken Word’ in November 2008 with multiple award-winning producer Theo Crous (the Parlotones, Prime Circle, Chris Chameleon, etc). The band then supported Stealing Love Jones on their national tour in Cape Town in December 2008.
In March 2009, Autopilot appears under the alias ‘Passionate Dead’ in a German feature movie “Summer in Cape Town”, which was featured in Germany in their Sunday night prime-time slot. The same month also saw the single ‘Mono’ featured on a UK & USA TV series ‘Slay Angels’.
Autopilot played alongside Hog Hoggidy Hog and more for the launch of the new online radio station Rock Out Radio in May 2009 as well as supported American rock band The Ataris. The band launched their unique brand of merchandise sponsored by Jagermeister in the same month at an official fashion show party.
In June 2009, Autopilot signed a new sponsorship deal with the brand Jagermeister and followed this up with shows at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown supporting the Parlotones.
Autopilot has recently recorded the music video for the first single ‘Bipolar’ off the new album ‘A Broken Word’, which the band plans to release together in the coming months.
Autopilot was also recently featured on a music production with the Parlotones, Freshly Ground and more on Mtv Base in September 2009.
