Jael

Songwriter and Seasoned Performer

About Me

Jael has now written over 1300 songs and had them recorded by a number of artists including his own band. Playing solo he plays guitar, mandolin or piano and the art behind his lyrics leaves you impressed. A strong sense of poetry has never been absent from his recordings even on the heavy metal, blues, jazz, country, experimental electronica, or childrens projects that he has created. Truly a diverse writer, the ties he has had to Preflyte (gospel), Teaze (metal), Jay and the Rubber Band (kids) Jerry and the Jerks (punk), Don Sprik Band (blues), Hexatrix (electronica), Lorne James (country), The Skylight Records Praise Project (worship), and his own stage persona Jael (alt acoustic, folk-rock) have left a trail of undeniable evidence. Constantly re-inventing himself, Jael's work has been compared to Roxy Music (both Bryan Ferry & Brian Eno), Donovan, John Cougar Mellancamp, Bruce Springsteen, Bruce Cockburn, Jack Johnson, James Blunt, Mark Heard, Tonio K and countless others. Every reviewer seems to have a different opinion. Performing, he ranges from thoughful country ballads similar to Gordon Lightfoot to the unbridled joy of power rock in the style of the Who. It depends on which band he has with him that day. If you're discovering him for the first time, fasten your seatbelt. You're in for a ride.He also, under different personae and non de plumes, draws paints and sculpts, writes books, choreographs dance, makes movies, and designs ingenious ways to fund it all. He checks his myspace site regularly with help to maintain it when absolutely necessary. Unfortunately this is becoming more common.
What myspacers need to know about Jael is that he is constantly interested in discovering artists who could use his music or who would like to collaborate in writing, recording, or performing. He has been out there for years quietly gaining momentum as a writer for a number of independent artists. Now suddenly it seems that everybody wants a piece of him. Fortunately there are 1300 pieces to around and less than 300 are spoken for. If you want to get on the demo list for a regular song pitch, send us an email with your regular email and a request. Keep watch on his blogs for projects he intiates because he'll often open it up for others to participate.
Fans are friends, not because myspace calls them that but because Jael really is interested. The problem is that lack of time keeps us all from knowing others as well as we could but if you want to test this, make the effort and send an email on this site. If you send a friend request it will probably be accepted. With very few exceptions he visits every profile on the list so sometimes there are some delays in being accepted. Welcome to the wonderful world of the art of Jael.
