The Queen of Roadhouse Rock

About Me

"Eve Selis isn’t just a 'singer' — she’s an emotion transducer who converts country, R&B, blues, folk, and rock ‘n’ roll signals into a megawatt zap that galvanizes everyone in its path. And as with fellow femme-furnace front women Bonnie Raitt, Joan Osborne, Maria McKee and Melissa Etheridge, the cauterizing power of Selis’s voice can arc-weld material from almost any genre into a personal manifesto.”
This four-time San Diego Music Awards winner blends many styles of American music into a high caliber musical cocktail topped off with a splash of her indelible “lemonade and whiskey” voice. Take a powerhouse band, lay a foundation of solid rock hooks, then add soaring pop melodies and a dash of alt-country twang and you've got Eve's brand of infectious Roadhouse Rock.
It’s been four years since her last CD and 18 months in the making to finish her new release, Angels And Eagles. "I was a bit disenchanted by the whole music industry and needed some time to just live and play music," Selis says, "…and then of course, I got pregnant and had a baby at 43 years old!" The break she needed coincided with life and it brought about a CD filled with songs that touch her heart and soul. Selis and Marc Intravaia, writing and performing partners for 17 years, co-wrote 10 of the 14 tracks.
Angels and Eagles -title track written by Selis’s long time friend and songwriting partner/producer Kim McLean. It’s a beautiful tribute to parents wanting to let their children fly on their own.
Street That I Grew Up On - when Marc and Eve and Kim sat down to write this song, they were pleasantly surprised to find out that even though they all grew up in different parts of the country they all have very similar childhood events.
That's Enough co-written with Doug Crider during the frustrations after entering the war in Iraq. It tries to focus on the simple events in life that fill up our hearts.
One Day At A Time co-written with McLean, focuses on the obvious truth that seems to elude all of us. The lyric that says it all, “The only true perfection is to try and try again.”
Touching The Eiffel Tower co-written with McLean, inspired by her son Will waking up from a dream shouting “I’m touching the Eiffel Tower.”
Welcome To Paradise inspired by a moment in life when Eve’s dear friend Mattie was close to dying from chemotherapy. She says, “I felt so helpless and I wanted to sing a song that made me feel good so I ‘googled’ positive words and a three page list came up. We tried to put as many of those words in the song as possible.” Kim says “don’t mind the beginning, sometimes a song has to start sad to get it to that ultimate happy place.”
Our song, "Touching the Eiffel Tower" from the new CD, Angels and Eagles, as presented by the Second Grade class at Carmel Del Mar Elementary, San Diego, CA
