I've been a musician since I was 13 years old. Played all over Texas and all throughout the United States both east and west. It's taken me all the way to Hawaii and Hong Kong. My brothers Noe on Bass and Daniel on drums had a band called the 2nd Revival. We played anywhere we could, in parking lots of malls. At friends backyards, clubs in Houston. My father Jose and mother Eulalia Ontiveros would come watch us play back then. Gary Dimmick drummer, Kenny Dimmick on sax, . Jerry Edwards on lead guitar. Garth on guitar. We played some school rallies at Northwood Jr. High and Kirby Jr. High to. When I was in the 2nd grade I was friends with Ricky Lee Nelson, he was learning to play the guitar then and wasn't doing too bad. In other words he was good, Watching him learn how to play the guitar I decided to learn to. My oldest brother Noe and I used to sing during recess at school and sometimes we got lunch money out of it. It was kinda cool. Later I joined a group called The Sebesta Band. Mark Sebesta on drums, John Sebesta Jr. on rhythm guitar, David De La Paz onlead guitar, Steve Moore on bass, and Connie Williams on violin. Louis was our soundman. John and Mark Sebesta wrote a lot of song with me. Mark Sebesta went to San Francisco in 1979 to learn Sound engineering and everything that goes with that such as copyrights, the do's and don't in the music business at the College for the Recording Arts. He later asked me to be his final grade the following year in November 1980. But I had decided to get there sooner by hitch- hiking to San Francisco and suprise Mark. It took me 6 days to get there, I was very lucky I did not run into any weird people. I do not advocate hitch-hiking because it's way too dangerous these days. After I got there I discovered Fisherman's Wharf that Connie had told me about and began playing on the streets of San Francisco. I got a bunch of people including David De La Paz from Houston together and after long rehearsals we were ready to go into the studio. We were going to use the 24 track recorder but someone sabotaged it by cutting wires with a pair of wire cutters. But we recorded live onto a 2 track recorder and Mark got the grade and passed. They were impressed with Mark because he said oh well, I guess we'll use the 2 track. I was a street musician off and on for over 25 years in San Francisco. Played mostly in The Cannery on Fisherman's Wharf and at the end of Market street at the foot of the Ferry Building and the Subway, jammed with many artists like Phil Lawrence on mandolina, Vaughn Avery Street Mime, Daniel Kane on the Chapman Stick, Kevin Quigley on Vocals and guitar, Jill Knight, John Klemmer on Sax, Dr. Gonzo on guitar, stand-up comic and so many more. Had the great pleasure of becoming friends with Comic Pat Paulsen, Actor Sterling Hayden. I had the pleasure of representing street performers in Hong Kong with Diane Feinstein and her entourage back in 1988 along with 5 other acts who performed on the streets in San Francisco. I've been a music arranger for Honey Bee Records and publishng in Baytown, Texas. I've been to Nashville pitching songs to major record labels. I've been an assistant recording and sound engineer for various Blues and Rock groups in San Francisco. Collaberated with Donn Dabney Singer/Songwriter/ Guitarist,, Rebecca Storm Blues singer, Jackie Ivory and his gang, I've recorded at Lester Abram's home studio he is a great songwriter, He wrote Minute By Minute a song Michael McDonald and the Doobie Brothers recorded years back. I've recorded with Jeff Ceyba excellent guitarist who played with The Smashing Pumpkins in San Marcos, CA. at Philip Meridith's Studio. I've recorded at Golden Gate studio ( College for the Recording Arts with Mark Sebesta my best friend engineer)And recorded at San Francisco State helping future recording engineers make their grade. The Cannery in San Francisco is the place to perform, I did it for over 25 years. In the Alcove where the acoustics are great. Hungout and jammed with Federico Mejia flamenco guitarist and learned to do Palmas with Rosa Montoya flamenco dancer she's like fire onstage and she is Carlos Montoya's niece, Classical guitarist. I wrote songs with Lawrence P. Dowd street musician and Wheeler Cole, Jim Ortloff, Steve Reno brother of lead singer Mike Reno of the band Loverboy, Diggory Cain, Richard Turner singer/ songwriter, In 1996 I met Andrey Rominov from St. Petersburg, Russia he was a former member f the group Aquarium I was told that he was considered the Bob Dylan of Russia so to speak. Anyway we recorded a few songs he wrote at my home in San Francisco while he was visiting. We were introduced by Tatiana a friend of who worked with my ex-wife Marilu at the San Francisco Jewish Community Center. That was fun. Unfortunately Iwas told that he had passed away while touring with Electric Light Orchestra in Europe. I was very sad to hear that.I am a proud parent of Mariana Ontiveros.
