About Me

Guitaraholic/Pizzamaniac
I am married to a beautiful gal who also plays the guitar and likes a good slice of pizza. She's a great mom, and is smart as hell, with high school and college valedictorian awards in her resume. She now wants to have a little girl. Hmmm, I coached a girls high school soccer team, and... uh oh!
The oldest son is a 6'7" college senior. He plays forward for the basketball team and is a math wiz, having just received the college's mathematics department award for disproving calculus, or something. He also hosts a weekly radio show and plays sax for the college jazz orchestra.
The middle son, in high school, has the physical strength of 18 normal humans. He plays the saxophone and drums in a jazz group, and plays varsity baseball, soccer and basketball. He speaks fluent Spanish and some Chinese. Wish he would speak English at home! Stanford, Brown, and U Penn are literally fighting over who gets him after he finishes high school.
The next oldest son is just a year old and learning how to walk. He moos at cows and roars at lions. As you can see from this video, he's an aspiring dancer. Don't miss the Elvis inspired last few seconds!
I am an attorney, but my wife believes that my true calling is as a record producer. My first album, a compilation of songs from superb singer/songwriters on discovergirls.com, is out now. The project is called 'Catalyst 18,' and all proceeds benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Vist catalyst18.com. It's an outstanding website.
I plan on developing a new music-related website, and working on a new charitable project through the new website (and maybe DG) soon. I'm always open to new ideas, and your support is welcome.
Here's what my wife wrote about me on her myspace page: "Dave has a huge heart, and loves his kids more than his own life. He is a survivor of a rare and serious form of cancer. He is an amazing athlete. His best friend in law school was Bill Nyrop of the Montreal Canadiens. The stories are legendary." (At my age, the stories are really piling up!)
I'm always thinking of creative ways to take part in the fight agaisnt cancer and to work for other worthy charitable causes. Here is a screenshot of the website for the CD I produced for the benefit of the National Breast Cancer Foundation. It features 21 songs from 18 outstanding female singer/songwriters. Please visit www.catalyst18.com .

My Interests

Guitar, Judo, Ju Jitsu, hangin' with Mrs. S. and the kids. (One is still in diapers!) Admirer of vegans... thinking of joining the vegan lifestyle. In the winter, I like watching my older boys play college and high school basketball.

This is my oldest son getting ready to receive a pass and dunk the ball in a college game:

I'd like to meet:

Great guitarists anywhere and the world's top pizza chefs.

And it would be wonderful if all the great gals at discovergirls.com would buy me a slice of pizza (even if I'd gain 50 pounds) :) Here's a screenshot my website. (It's free for talented women, and men can add links to the link section.)

As an avid pizza pie maniac, I'm on a quest for the best pizza on the planet. See Ultradave.com for more about my pizza antics.

I'm addicted to the guitar - playing whenever possible and listening to other guitarists. Play the video below for an example of the stuff I've been working on over the past couple of months. That's Eric Roche playing, not me (as you can tell by the amount of hair.) I'll post some videos and music of me playing after I recover from a recent shoulder surgery.

Music:

People might think that Brazilian music is my favorite, but all styles of music are appealing. As a self-certified guitar player (SCGP), I know that good music is good music - and better on the guitar!

Music news: The London International Music Show is coming up soon (June 12-15). Check out londoninternationalmusicshow.com for all the details.

Movies:

Old black and white films and anything that isn't crappy. Jack Lemmon, one of the greatest actors, was great in the "Out of Towners" and many other films. Also, "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," the original with Gene Wilder, is withstanding the test of time. I have a feeling that Adam Sandler's "You Don't Mess With the Zohan" will be outrageous. In movie related news: My wife is working on setting me up on a second date with Jennifer Garner.

Television:

Lost, HGTV's Hidden Potential, Jeopardy, History Channel programs, raunchy comedy. I like "Hidden Potential" because of the wicked good architect/designer computer model upgrades to older homes.

Books:

Moby Dick is the greatest. Green Eggs and Ham is the second best. Email me to find out your book's rank.

Heroes:

Bugs Bunny/Road Runner
