About Me

HISTORY
I haven't lived a single day / without you / there's no place / without your memory / I thought my future soon would gleam / without you / but every dream's about you / history / - from "History" by Jael
Lamenting Vinyl is made up of three sisters: Rachel, Becky, and Deborah Thomson; and their father, Jael. Jay, a musician and lyricist extraordinaire, is the author of over one thousand songs. As a solo artist and band member, Jay has been writing, performing, and recording since the age of fourteen.
Rachel, Becky and Deborah have had their own musical history. Together with a younger sister, Leah, they travelled as "The Friends" for a number of years, singing and acting in the original children's show Dynamite the Dinosaur and Friends. As their musical talents matured, they began singing more adult music, infused with soaring harmonies. They sang in churches and wherever they could get an audience, eventually forming the gospel group Gold Cord.
Lamenting Vinyl got its true start one night when no one showed up for a coffee house the family was running at the time. Rachel had recently been taking an interest in Jay's music, and she suggested that they try putting her lead vocals to some of his songs. The result, when combined with Becky's brilliant harmonies and Deborah's instrumental talents, was Lamenting Vinyl.
The band melds the sounds of folk, rock, and pop with tight family harmonies and poetic lyrics, to create a sound not quite like anything else out there.
