1984 was not supposed to be an instruction manual

About Me

Please read FAQs blog before sending a message / comment.

On 6th August 1945 the first atomic bomb was dropped by a United States aircraft on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. On the same day in 1961 russian cosmonaut Major Gherman Titov astonished the world by becoming the first person to spend the whole day in orbit over the earth. And on 6th August 1981 in the city of Liverpool, Heather Paterson emerged kicking and screaming into the world.

Heather dislikes ignorance, war, worrying about money, sewing machines and the sound of ice being cut / crushed / scraped.

She likes summer rain, bar room philosophy, people watching, women and faeries.

She doesn't see the world the same way as other people, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

"Heather was never one of the cool kids, because she never wanted to be"

A commited activist, Heather thinks almost as much as she smokes. At the age of 12 when she became vegetarian, her mother thought it was a phase; She is now vegan.

Heather is a proud lefty with sympathies with the anarchist / socialist / marxist / libertarian schools of thought. Spiritually she has leanings towards buddhist / pagan / humanist philosophies. However she does not pay her subscriptions or allow herself to be confined by defining to any of the above groups.

You can read more about my political and spiritual beliefs here

She also likes the pretentiousness of writing in the third person.

Music:

I love music and will listen to just about anything depending on what mood I am in. My first love musically was 50's Rock n Roll. As a child growing up in the 80's, the typical Top Of The Pops selection never exactly rocked my world, but I remember one day my mother had the radio on one of the "golden oldies" stations when Little Richard came on. I remember sitting up and thinking "Shit where have they been hiding this". That was the first time music got me excited. Since then my tastes have become more varied and tends to go through phases. I'm listening to a lot of gypsy type stuff at the moment after going through a big acoustic folk love and next week - who know's.

Movies:

Tank Girl Rent Prozac Nation Party Monster My Summer of Love If These Walls Could Talk 2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Hackers Ferris Bueller's Day Off Edward Scissorhands The Color Purple The Breakfast Club Brazil Better Than Chocolate Amelie Pan's Labyrinth Labyrinth Human Traffic Bound Audition Kinky Boots Minority Report Almost Famous A.I. Artificial Intelligence Moulin Rouge Gremlins Secretary Coyote Ugly Priscilla, Queen of the Desert The Wizard of Oz School of Rock The Descent The Rocky Horror Picture Show Eyes Wide Shut Tim Burton's Corpse Bride Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Pulp Fiction Ginger Snaps Trainspotting Cube

Television:

I choose not to possess a TV. [Insert long rambling polical explanation here]

Heroes:

My Dad Naomi Klein Noam Chomsky George Orwell Gandhi Bill Hicks Oscar Wilde Ani DiFranco Che Guevara
