In summer 2001 when THE JAYBIRDS took a break after more than ten years of international succes, releasing serveral records and supporting the Rolling Stones in 1998 on their Bridges to Babylon Tour, and in the following year the Yardbirds, me, Patrick Nagl (guitar) and Thomas Schmitzberger (drums) were driven by the idea of bringing a new group together. Teaming up with singer Robert Wittmann and organist Jo Gundacker of the 70ies influenced prog-group Autumn Moon we had already found the two ideal musicians to take our musical abilities further, stepping into the more melodic and progressive direction, that was exactly what we were looking for.
Writing our own stuff right from the start we created our typical hammond organ and guitar based vintage late 60ies psychy-prog style.
After about one year of rocking the local clubs we recorded our first CD-longplayer called "Step Inside" including only original material. Released in the end of 2003 on our own label Osiris Records in limited edition of 300 copies it is complete sold out now, a saught after, and highly recommended collectors item for psych freaks.
Two of our very best self penned and also always included into our live set songs, are featured here on this site to listen to. The amazing and psychy "Somewhere In My Dreams" and the keyboard based and melodramatic "The Light".
In early 2005 the already fed up keyboarder Jo decided to quit the group and to turn his back to the music scene. So we were forced to fill this gap and search for another wizzard of the proggy keys. Lucky as we were, Jasmin Nagl "the Mean Machine", just had quit with her former psychedelic band the Flow and so she was ready and willing to join in for Music Apartment.
The new face in the band on hammond organ and Robert also switching to bass guitar, transformed the formerly psychy sounds into a fresh, heavier, straighter and more rockier direction.
In 2006 we were invited by the hip and famous British 60ies/Mod label DETOUR RECORDS to contribute two of our finest self written psych killers, "Turning Stones" and "Another Qiet Mile", now available on the third volume of the compilation series "Takin A Detour".
Sadly in this line up of the band we never got off the ground and we missed the chance to prove our musical progression live on stage.
These two originals can give you a glimpse what the band in these days was all about.
Not only in my opinion this is the ultimate recording of the band.
Thanks to that release, recorded live in the studio, full of guts, strong guitar and amazing organ work, we earned also international only good reviews, and so we are pleased to be able to reach a wide range of people all over the world to share these awesome moments on that compilation series with us, we are still very proud of to be featured on.
Sadly soon after that release the group struggled from personel problems and under mysterious circumstances unfortunately we came to a sudden and final halt in summer 2006.
Me and Thomas are now again in the reunited JAYBIRDS touring Europe for special events again, supporting The Sonics on their very first European gig at the "Forum" in London.
In the end of 2006 I started the power rock trio MEDUSA , supporting the legendary Spooky Tooth on their Nomad Poets tour in 2008.
Jasmin is rocking now the local pubs with her keyboard-wizzard 1-Kid-Kombo-project THE MEAN MACHINE .
