Mod haircuts, short jackets, pointed boots, hipsters, cufflinks, r&b, freakbeat, style and passion: this is what you find in The Jaybirds nest. They were born in 1989 in Vienna and have had the same line up (except for a guitar player replacement in 1994) all the time. The Jaybirds were unanimously acclaimed as the coolest mod band in Europe in the “authentic side†mods and r&b scene, though in the late period the adopted a more freakbeat style, always in style.Equally lovers of white & black 60’s music, we could find them playing Skip Bifferty to Sorrows or Sam Cooke to Joe Tex masterfully.Their discography is composed of 2 only vinyl lp´s (though the second one had also a limited edition cd available), 4 ep’s, and one single, and also a few live recordings edited in compilations. They’ve travelled all around Europe from Isle of Wight to Orihuela in their old VW van and tought in studio they’ve always had a strikingly powerful sound, this was nothing compared to live. Their fame and cool and original ways brought them to share stage with The Rolling Stones in Vienna in front of 80.000 people. With no news from them since 2002, they come back to life with more strength, experience and clearer ideas than ever… their stage antics: simply “5 r&b-mad boysâ€! (Words by Pruno - Thanks)Notice: Some of the Jaybirds-members are also playing in other bands actually. On one hand there is the band called "Medusa" including Patrick Nagl on guitar and Thomas Schmitzberger on drums (just take a look at myspace.com/medusapowertrio). On the other hand there are "the subcandies"(myspace.com/subcandies). The Jaybird`s singer BJ Gold and guitarist Norb Payr are part of that band.Looking for our records?
