Influences:

Born in Catania, Luca Madonia is one of the most interesting realities arisen by the fizzy musical scene of the Sicilian city. A scene which has brought to the footlights, recently and not, an interesting fan of musicians, songwriters, bands of every musical kind.
Among the first bands from Catania to be noticed in the rest of Italy, already in the early '80's, there were the Denovo: a quartet devoted to a sophisticated and winning pop. Luca and his brother Gabriele were the founders of Denovo while Mario Venuti and Tony Carbone (the other two members) have joined the band afterwards.
The happy adventure of the band produced five albums, between 1984 and 1989: "Niente insetti su Wilma" (No bugs on Wilma), "Unicanisai", "Persuasione" (Persuasion), "Così fan tutti" (All do this way) and "Venuti dalle Madonie a cercar Carbone" (containing the names of the members of the band), this was produced by the well known composer Franco Battiato.
In 1990 the band broke up, and Luca Madonia felt him ready for the soloist career. Without repudiating the style of the Denovo, but rather enriching it and personalizing it, he started recording his solo albums: first "Passioni e manie" (Passions and manias) 1991, then "Bambolina" (Little doll) 1993 and "Moto perpetuo" (Perpetual motion) 1994.
Such three albums were immediately appreciated by the criticism, which pointed out Luca as one of the most interesting and promising songwriters of Italian pop.
A new album arrived in 1999, after a period of reflection : a mini CD entitled "Solo" (Alone) with three tracks, representing in full what the artist intending to be now. In 2002 finally Luca returns to publish a new album "La consuetudine" (The habit) which was anticipated by the homonymous single (duett with Franco Battiato). The track was used for a long time as the cover of "Hobo", a popular broadcast hosted by Massimo Cotto on Radio Rai.
During 2004 the first greatest hits was published, "L'essenziale" (The essential) for Elleu-Storie di note, including a brand new track "La strada" (The road). For this album it was decided to extend selling also to the newsagents.
In April 2006 a new album of unpublished songs, "Vulnerabile" (Vulnerable), produced by Don't Worry Records and distributed by Storie di note, including another duett with Franco Battiato "Quello che non so di te" (What I don't know about you).
Luca is presently working at his sixth solo album.
