The latest song on the page is by Vantown's BOCEPHUS KING
Flow thy tears ye hypocrites
Get ready for the age of reason
Your time here's done
Annie go get your guns
Don't let the door hit you while you are leaving
It's been a real long time since I've heard the truth
I hope the poor thing's still worth speaking
Your spin's been spun and what good has it done?
Look at all this havoc y'all been wreaking
Mercy mercy children, that's just all that there is
That's gonna save you from the coming disaster
You let'em change your minds from time to time
But don't be blind
They're all still BASTARDS!
A worthwhile rant is so much more effective when it's set to music.

***WEDNESDAYS! 8PM! "CHEAP THRILLS" AT THE BOURBON! ***
3 Bands For $5!! "KEEP PORT LANDS IN PUBLIC HANDS"
________________________________________________________
Crab Park at portside ( where we hold the annual July 1st Festival ) is the last piece of undeveloped public waterfront land in Vancouver.
A private company wants to build a stadium/entertainmant facility in its vacinity without the people's approval.
This will severely compromise the park's natural beauty and destroy the immediate neighbourhood.
We want the land to remain in the hands of the public, and continue to be available for the benefit and enjoyment of all citizens.
You can learn more about this and offer your support to keep a much-needed waterfront greenspace intact: here.

"BOOZAPALOOZA WAS A SUCCESS!
TOWN PANTS, SWANK & RUN GMC FILL THE COMMODORE!
It all marked the THE TOWN PANTS' 10th ANNIVERSARY LIVE CD RELEASE PARTY!
With Special Guests:
SWANK and RUN GMC !
It's was an exhilarating, rip-roaring, Roots-rocking evening, as THE TOWN PANTS returned from a 3 month tour of the US and Canada and celebrate, not only their 10th year as a band, but, also the release of a special 17 track live album, very fittingly entitled: "Coming Home"
This particular shindig at The Commodore marked the return of
an ALL LOCAL MUSIC EVENT to the great hall in quite some time!
People came out, filled the barn, got into the grand spirit of it all, and dance themselves silly!
Thanks for coming out and supporting live, local music!
Your support has made it possible to keep these all local music events at the Commodore.
The fantastic special guests included:
SWANK, who stole the show!
They had an urgency, originality and edge that set them apart.
They shift virtually effortlessly from an almost straight up bluegrass number to a full on rock and roll onslaught and round it off with a hearty Gospel shouter!
SWANK went all out with their eclectic Surf-Punk-Country-Gospel hybrid!
Myself and and the selected few I spoke with are very proud of the way SWANK performed and represented Vancouver's original live music scene!
They brought out Ana Bon Bon for their last few Gospel-tinged shouters, and boy was it fun!
I got right into "Judas is Coming to Town" and "How Do We Do".
It was like a more hip religious singalong. It was fantastic!
The Country trucker rock of RUN GMC were a bit too heavy with the backwater mentality ( prefer bands that have a more unique and original slant on Country / Roots music ) ,but, I have to say the lady who came out and sang Dolly Parton's "Jolene", and the fiddle player were the focal points of the band.
I'd like to see if they can put together some original material, and make the lady and the fiddle player a bigger part of the band.
It was a low dough show with tickets a mere $12 each.
It was the first time in ages a show was that cheap in the big hall.
Thanks to Ryan Balaski and Jessica Dunn at Live Nation for their enthusiasm and respect for local, live music!
We can do this local live music thing again!
Ya-hoo!
