THE PACK A.D.

BETTER DIE LEGEND

About Me

THE PACK A.D. – Short Bio
United in early 2006, Becky Black and Maya Miller of The Pack A.D. mean business. They take life on the road, Civil War stories, coffee and cigarettes, stir theminto a vicious concoction of garage rock and Jack Daniels and then boil it alive inthe blues.
Holding the torch high in today's garage rock revival, this Vancouver duo strikes with a raw, hell-torn, blues-rock swagger that is equally contemplative and unflinching. (Marty Rollins - The Approach)
The Pack A.D. owes much of it's heritage to the crossover-blues genre - one that'srecently become increasingly popular following the success of the White Stripes andThe Black Keys. With the focus on rhythm-centric guitar, solid drum riffs, andpassionate, unrestrained vocals, the Vancouver duo is at times haunting and at others irresistibly boot-stomping.
Their debut record Tintype, originally self-released, was re-released in Januarythis year by Mint Records , who signed the band in the fall of 2007.
The next album is to be released in August this year. Until then, The Pack A.D. arehere to take on the world, one town (and one cup of coffee) at a time.

Sounds Like: WHAT THE PRESS HAS TO SAY...

4 **** -- Uncut Magazine, 2008

Live, Millers sparse beats shuffle along while Black goes from a whisper to a wail tearing out shards of spiky lead guitar. It's explosive, organic and really different each time…Nothing on Tintype is ever less than intense and rarely cheery.
--Stuart Derdeyn (The Province) DEC 07

Best Local Band 2007 - The Pack, no question. These two ladies exploded from the Secret Cave of Concealed Talent with muskets a-blazin’ and sabers a-rattlin’, reinvigorating this sleepy city with heart-pumping, rock’n’soul fury with a raw energy so infectious as to reshape the lives of everyone they meet. Becky Black’s also probably the greatest vocal discovery this town’s ever known. WATCH OUT UNIVERSE.
--Dave Bertrand (Nerve Magazine) DEC 07

Awwwwwooooogggaaaaararoraroarrrrrrr. Janis Joplin, meet the White Stripes. Now, go and drink a bucket of bourbon and hang out on a Civil War battleground.
--Andrew (Red Cat Records) DEC 07

Tintype is a triumph. Good in the morning, good at night. This is the shit.
--Dave Bertrand (Nerve Magazine) MAY 07

Maya Millers drumming isn't just confident, it's downright warlike
--Fish Griwkowsky (Edmonton Sun) JAN 08

A guitar-drum howling-blues duo, Becky Black and Maya Miller of the Pack are clearly meant to play together...The whole beautiful mess (of Tintype) will have uptown turkeys running in terror back to their Eric Clapton "blues" CDs.
--Adrian Mack (The Georgia Straight) AUG 07

No matter how overdone a genre appears to be, truly talented artists always come along to make it new yet again. Black and Miller are two such artists, and our sleepy little scene should be thankful.
--RC Joseph (24 Hours) APR 07

Some say that Black's guitar pick is actually the Devil's toenail. We don't know where The Pack got their dark gifts, we're just trying to stay on their good side.
--Claire Kenny (Urban Trendz) MAR 07
