Music for people.

About Me

Headwater started plowing new ground in folk and country roots music in the fall of 2005 when emerging songwriters and vocalists Jonas Shandel and Matt Bryant (son of longtime Chilliwack bass player Ab Bryant) recruited some of Vancouver’s hottest young jazz players to work on their debut album My Old Friend.
Clicking on this iTunes button here will lead you to My Old Friend’s little space on iTunes. Have a listen, it’s a swell record.
Headwater: not the official band of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
A highly anticipated follow up album is currently being recorded with one of Vancouver’s top roots producers Marc L’Esperance. The album will be released on Nowhere Town Records in June 2008.
Here’s what some nice folks from the music press had to say:
"These partners in musical crime have stolen my ears! As a reward for their return I offer one glowing review. Matt Bryant and Jonas Shandel’s voices are so similar you’d swear they’re brothers, or, if not, cosmically linked..."
- Mary Beth Carty Penguin Eggs Magazine
"...I’ll make this guarantee: If you like Tom Waits, Blue Rodeo…Wilco, you’ll like Headwater."
- Sarah Petrescu The Times Colonist
Clicking on this My Old Friend album cover here will lead you to a nice online store where you can order a physical copy, should you so desire. We’d recommend it.
