About Me
...Rising out of the West Coast music scene, this Vancouver band blends the deep roots of classic rock 'n' roll, with funky bass runs, edgy passionate vocals, and a little southern comfort. The sound is straight forward and to the point. They are a dirty guitar driven, bass thumpin, sweet soul rock 'n' roll band. After spending the last two years writing, promoting and working their sound at over 20 shows at most of the cities live Indie venues, they have secured their obscure spot in the local Rock 'N' Roll scene.
..."There is no roadmap for the songs we write, just a desire and belief in writing timeless music for our selves and the people."

...Its 2004, nearing the end of a hot indian summer and longtime friends, singer/songwriter Matt Mattson and guitarist J.D. Pawluk get together over drinks to talk about recording some song ideas they both had floating around. Over the next few months the foundations of these tracks would start to emerge. Songs like 'Freerider', 'All of Me', and 'Make it through' came to life as the Fall rusts and Winter sets in...
...Over those long dark nights they would get together in Matt's Kitsilano home studio and track 15 songs with the help of friend Joe Cindric on Bass. With basic pre-production done, they began looking for a drummer and by that summer they had found one in Eric Violato. Jamming sparatically at a small, dingy, but character filled room at First Music Rehearsal for months, Eric was able to secure the bands first lockout space, and the band was born...
...Beginning from the New Year they honed there live sound and stage show at some of Vancouvers great indie venues, 'The Buffallo Club', 'The Roxy' and 'The Lamplighter' but didn't shy away from the less desirable ones such as 'The Balmoral' or 'Columbia' which they played twice! A show was a show, and over the year they played a dozen of them and secured a spot in the local indie scene...
...During this year Joe left and another old friend; Brad T joined the band, first on bass, then keys and guitar, adding dynamics with piano and guitar arrangements and powerful backing vocals. K9 Rock Dog was taken onboard to fill out the bass in the now 5 piece. By the end of summer tensions in the band were high, egos were clashing, wars were brewing, and that energy spilled over into the songs. 'Baby alright', ' Beautiful Conspiracy' and the epic 'Sweet Soul Rock 'N' Roll' were born and an identity was found...
...Nearing the end of 2006 it was obvious a change needed to be made and the decision was made to let K9 go and seek out a new bass player. Enter Muttley and the band imediately knew they had found a gem. Thumping bass runs and funky rock grooves brought dancebility to the band. They got better. By the New Year the last of the blood boiled over and Brad left the band to pursue his own project leaving what seemed a big hole and them a four piece. Over the next few weeks talk of replacing him turned upsidedown as the band reinvented itself and found a new love in the space and simplicity of their new sound. New roles were assumed as they began to look at their style diffently. With a new perspective, songs such as 'Love in the air', 'Vines', and 'Industrial City' took a new turn and solidified their sound .... a more dirty guitar driven, bass thumpin' band, the "Sweet Soul Rock 'N' Roll" sound of today...
...Working out of their studio, they released a full length demo album of their sound and songs to date. Produced by Matt, these mostly live off the floor tracks captured the raw energy of the bands performances. As the year came to an end, a new chapter was written, and they parted ways amicably with Eric after 2 very solid, and deticated years. After only playing with new drummer Zeke from Muttleys last band for a few months it was easy to see the evolution and the experience he brings to the sound, and we will see where this takes them. "I think after these amazing 3 years we have finally found the band this was supposed to be. The dynamics we have now are the most enjoyable I have experienced in any band or project to date..."
..."Rock 'N' Roll lives in the hearts of the good people of the world, thanx for rollin with us." -Freewill.
...A series of live shows are developing as "The Rock 'N' Roll Roadshow" with their production company SweetSoul Productions. With each successful new show, it seems the horizons of this idea expand, their network of interested fans and bands grows bigger, and the idea of putting on a big show this year gets clearer. We are very excited about 2008...
