The Lazarus Plot

Next gig: The Dublin Castle, Monday Sep 22nd

About Me

The Sun recently described The Lazarus Plot as 'one to watch'. It's not hard to see why.
Formed in a South London pub, The Lazarus Plot have managed to create their own unique sound borne from a mesh of truly diverse artists such as Massive Attack, World Party, The Divine Comedy, DJ Shadow and even Duran Duran. Despite this fusion of contrasting influences there is something reassuringly familiar about the band's marriage of brooding, introspective lyrics with soaring, haunting melodies.
Support slots with Sony BMG-signed Norwegian three piece Lorraine and Britpop stalwarts The Bluetones, coupled with headline appearances on the London circuit (Metro, Halfmoon, Dublin Castle to name but a few) have only added to the band's burgeoning reputation. At the same time, festival appearances at Stroud Fringe and the Peavey-sponsored Till The Cows Come Home, have allowed the band to stretch its growing following far beyond its London base; a feat which has been helped further by radio appearances on the BBC across the UK and live sessions on several other leading regional radio stations.
With two critically-acclaimed singles released in 2007 on independent tastemaker label Illuminated Music, it seems the band should make the move into the commercial mainstream sooner rather than later. And not before time as far as this journalist is concerned.

Sounds Like: "One to watch" - The Sun

"Tuneful piano-led guitar pop which has chart success written all over it. In fact it’s remarkable that no-one’s snapped up ‘Holding On For You’ as an advert jingle already" - Is This Music?

""Music which snatches unbowed elation from the claws of melancholy" - Flavorpill.net

"Tracks which pull your heart out of your chest" - Clickmusic.com

"Our tip to be the big next thing" - North magazine

"Tunes which swell with dramatically simple, heart-wrenching passion" - Overplay.co.uk

"Musically polished to near perfection" - Recordscout.com

"Given the right backing these guys could be huge" - Talentstar.net

"Flawless" - The Guild of International Songwriters & Composers

"Truly beautiful" - BBC Radio Gloucestershire

Winners, BBC Radio Southern Counties New Music Panel, March 2007

"Heavenly" - Fresh Air FM

"Their material is classy, their approach is remarkably original and they keep on coming up with the goods" - Toxic Pete

"Always The Same is the London quartet's second official release a shyly nimble slice of emotion lashed heartache set to a breathlessly sweeping scale ascending canter like piano motif replete with hush like imploring vocals and sugar dipped with the kind of beguiling quiet splendour of the Dream Academy albeit minus the honey crusted succulently rich string arrangements" - Losing Today

"Something in the Roddy Frame for the 00s sphere of excellence" - Wey FM

"Always the Same is a great track. Europe-wide appealling pop is the basis of the song with an emotive tune and whispery lyrics" - The Mag
