Introducing Jasper's Dilemma featuring Mark Potter (vocals, guitars, keys), Chris Gatz (bass, keys) and John Talevski (drums, percussion) with their debut self-titled nine track CD released on February 7 2005 through MGM Distribution.
This rock trio blend moody, atmospheric and dirty indie guitar with tasty electronic elements and interludes. The debut CD is a carefully crafted set of tracks, recorded in the tradition of concept albums, flowing from track to track and taking the listener on a journey.
“It's dark and dynamic, a balance between electronic soundscapes and a traditional rock band, revolving around personal experiences and frustrations,†explains Jasper's Dilemma Mark Potter.
Growing up in the working class inner northern suburbs of Melbourne the trio met at high school in their early teens, and have been in and out of different bands since Jasper's Dilemma solidified in '99.
Reminscent of early '80s UK bands such as Depeche Mode, they cite their influences as Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and '80s hair bands.
“We have gone against the grain of our surroundings,†says Potter, “the suburbs should have produced something similar to Shannon Noll or a wedding reception band... it is definitely not an arty or bohemian environment.â€
