About Me

In a poll of prominent music journalists in December, 2007 "ONE BEER" from the album, "O' California", was selected SONG OF THE YEAR for 2007 by music journalist, Chuck Eddy, a senior music editor at Billboard Magazine. For seven years Chuck was the music editor of the Village Voice in New York City............In his annual poll of the best albums of the year, Billboard's Chuck Eddy ranked "O' California" as the 31st best album of the year and "O' Santa Barbara" as the 35th best album of the year for 2007. Keith Gordon of Rolling Stone magazine ranked "O' California" as the 29th best album of the year and "O' Santa Barbara" as the 30th best album of the year for 2007...................NEWEST ALBUM......"O' Los Angeles" is recorded, mixed and mastered. We just have to finish the artwork and then manufacture the album sometime in 2008......"O' Santa Barbara" was officially released June 5, 2007........................ BLACK ANGEL JUKEBOX IS ON THE AIR Black Angel will be changing songs on a regular basis so that our friends will be able to hear songs from all four albums that we have recorded within the past four years. We have added another website Black Angel Jukebox (see under our top friends) so that you can hear songs from all four of these albums........."Real Music for Real People", "O' California", "O' Santa Barbara" and "O' Los Angeles"................HISTORY Black Angel began in Santa Barbara in 1999 with the same lineup it has now, but with the addition of Audrey Turner (currently and previously with the Ike Turner Review and now Mrs. Ike Turner) as a vocalist and Ronnie Turner (only son of both Tina and Ike Turner) on bass. The band was originally called The Prophets and played in major Los Angeles and Santa Barbara clubs such as The Roxy, Jack's Sugar Shack, Luna Park and the Wildcat Lounge. The Prophets released one CD, "The Prophets EP", in 1999. Since then the band has released three full length albums, "13 Stories" and "Real Music for Real People" and "O' California". The band has currently recorded three new albums ('O California, 'O Santa Barbara and 'O Los Angeles). The 'O California album was released in December, 2006. Black Angel has played shows at such Southern California clubs as B. B. King's Blues Club, The Coach House (San Juan Capistrano), Paladino's, Rusty's Surf Ranch, The Cat Club, The Creekside Inn, the Martini Lounge, The Tryst, SRI (Studio Instrument Rentals) Showcase, The Musicians Institute, The Scientology Celebrity Center and The Tryst. Black Angel's new album, 'O California, is a mixture of rock 'n' roll, country rock, pop and country tunes in the vein of Hotel California, Exile on Main Street and the Beatles White Album.
