About Me

Who and what is Merlin Engine?
"A moment in which the music combined with the already present sound energy takes over and brings us to the sound of Merlin Engine."AF
"Refers to a state of mind. A certain chemistry of tones complimenting each other, which in turn produce a myriad of audible phenomenon that tickles the soul. Merlin Engine is musical synergy." TB
Karl has immersed himself into his music for the past 13 years, writing songs and polishing his chops. Karl brings a rawness to the band focusing on witty lyrics and catchy guitar riffs. An early version of Merlin Engine is formed with present guitar player Troy in late 1998.
Emotions can sometimes run pretty high in the band and that feeling is felt in the tunes. Karl always wears his heart on his sleeve. The dialectic grounds Karls voice in an impressive display of bravado and fear. Karl is an emotional front man, has the ability to convey his emotions through song.
Passion, desire and commitment are the three things Karl brings every time he plays.
Karl uses Epiphone and Gibson guitars thru Marshall amps.
Troy exudes confident lead guitar sounds allied with rock, blues background making the perfect team member in the pursuit of feeling trippy and chillin.
Troy wants to be played with. And with his cornucopia of gadgets & gear he creates an expansive soundscape. Delightful & indulgent, playful & sincere. He wields his guitar like a weapon of mass destruction and has the ability to lock into any groove presented to him.
Troy uses Fender, Fender Hybrids, Kramer, PRS, Charvel, & Ibanez guitars thru Fender amps.
Aaron hailing from Eastern Canada, brings a certain groovy robustness to Merlin Engine. Focusing on building a strong foundation with smoldering bass riffs and vocal harmonies.
Aaron had played in a band called the "Paisty White Boys" with Troy from 1993 to 1997. Aaron joined the guitar duo of Merlin Engine in early 2001.
Aaron has an incredible ear, is a good harmony man, and is only happy when hes playing outside the box. His honest, straightforward ideas bring a sense of stability to a song.
Aaron uses Fender basses thru Fender amps.
Ross formally of SMACK & the the Floozys is now our hot drummer. He brings a lot of experience to Merlin Engine.
It was an obvious good decision after the first couple songs that we played with him. He has the skills and the desire to make it happen for all of us. Ross is the big brother in the band. We are very excited about the energy that he brings to the band!!!
Ross uses Drums Works drums and Sabian cymbals.
