Mother Mother is a five piece band from Vancouver Canada signed to Last Gang Records (The New Pornographers, Metric, DFA 1979). In 2007, they released their debut album “Touch Upâ€, a very creative and diverse expression of modern pop music that led to much critical acclaim and extensive touring in North America.
Their unique sound and highly regarded live show has seen them perform in many different settings, from The Montreal International Jazz Festival, to the prestigious SXSW, to The Virgin Music Festival, where they shared the stage with The Killers and Hot Hot Heat. The Globe and Mail gave their debut album 4 stars, and Perez Hilton noted Mother Mother to be “the most exciting band coming out of Canadaâ€.
Not only do world newspapers and celebrity bloggers want to talk about Mother Mother, but also alternative, and indie rock outlets, including Pitchfork Media, who remarked TOUCH UP to be “an album isolated from a lot of today's worn-out trends and aesthetic mimicry". Chart Attack remarked that "listening to Mother Mother is like reading Hunter S. Thompson – you end up in a place where reality has been delightfully skewedâ€, an apt comparison, given the band’s quirky style, and thematic eccentricities.
Currently, Mother Mother is recording their second album with Howard Redekopp (The New Pornographers, Teagan and Sara, 54/40) who produced and engineered the band’s first album, and is set to be released in the summer of 2008. This sophomore effort will mark the evolution of a very original and vital band in today’s music scene, a band with staying power and one that pushes the bounds of contemporary pop sensibilities.
Mother Mother is brother and sister, Ryan and Molly Guldemond, Debra-Jean Creelman, Jeremy Page, and Ali Siadat.
