James is in constant demand as a commercial songwriter and works across many styles with a host of Australian performing artists. He has been involved in over one million album sales with artists such as Shannon Noll, Katie Underwood, Anthony Callea, Milsy, Saya and US band LMNT. His most recent single is a "Whole Lotta Love" co written by Tim Henwood of "The Androids".As a bassist he has performed in over thirty major musical productions throughout Asia and Australia including ‘The Lion King’, 'The Producers', ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Les Miserables’, ‘Cats’, 'Chess', 'Rent', ‘The Boy from Oz’ starring Hugh Jackman, 'The Main Event' (Australian Tour with John Farnham/Olivia Newton-John/Anthony Warlow), 'Grease The Arena Spectacular', 'Fame' and 'Shout'. He was also personally selected by Brian May and Rodger Taylor to perform in 'We Will Rock You' in Australia and Japan. James has recently performed in 'Miss Saigon' and will commence 'Priscilla,Queen of the Desert' at the Regent Theatre, Melbourne from October onwards.His involvement as a sideman has lead him to accompany literally every star of musical theatre in Australia and through his TV and corporate engagements an extremely diverse range of vocalists and bands including Delta Goodrum, Petula Clark, Thelma Houston, Mark Seymour (member of band for 3 years) and 'Men at Work'.He has extensive experience in television and played in the house bands for 'Starstruck' and 'The Logies' (03/04) as well as countless appearances on GMA, Rove, Hey Hey it's Saturday' and numerous others TV shows. Other live to air broadcasts include the Sydney 2000 Olympics with 'Men at Work', and AFL 2003 Grand Final performance with 'We Will Rock You'. He was also the resident band member of 'Something Hot Before Bed',ABC and worked in music production for Ten's 'X Factor'.James is also the director of Rockcandy Productions a dynamic writing/production and artist development house based in Melbourne, Australia.
