McGowan is an award-winning songwriter and in-demand collaborator based in Brooklyn, NY. With roots in the “Live Free Or Die” state of New Hampshire, McGowan cut his musical teeth as so many other successful musicians with the likes of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Bob Marley. “[They were] a major force, musically and spiritually” claims McGowan, “my little world caved in to rock and roll.”A move from New Hampshire to Philadelphia began the first of many “guitar-for-hire” studio sessions. It was also at this time that McGowan set out on his own playing coffee shops and clubs along the East Coast. As his fan base grew so did McGowan’s visibility in the industry. In 2002 a friend recommended him to Ben Lee which resulted in several years of both live and studio collaboration with the critically acclaimed Australian. In November of 2005, McGowan’s collaboration on Ben’s album “Catch My Disease” garnered him a “Single of the Year” award at the ARIAS; the Australian version of the Grammy’s in the United States.That same year McGowan released his first solo LP on indie Manic Pop Thrill. He also began collaborating with more high-profile artists while touring to support his own release. Currently McGowan is on tour with Mutlu (Manhattan Records) and recording the follow up to his solo debut with legendary producer/engineer Henry Hirsch (Lenny Kravitz). McGowan is also collaborating with award-winning songwriter/musician Nini Camps on a project entitled, “The Seventeens”.
