I’ve never been good with languages, my father is Thai and both my parents speak French but I never caught on. Even in English I stumble on the complexities of words and meaning when I talk. Music is a language that I’ve always understood and have used since I was a little one to communicate with the world around me.
I’ve got by from playing music since I left high school, barely at times. Australia is a fantastic place to play music, people are keen to listen and the music scene nurtures and supports young musicians.
I signed with EMI Australia last year, and have been working with them to get my debut LP out. After collecting a large swag of songs, I’m going to LA in April 2008 to spend 3 months frolicking in a studio.
I have played before such talents as Pete Murray, Tim Finn, Ash Grunwald, Little Birdy, The Waifs, Xavier Rudd, Toni Collete and the Finish, Salmonella Dub, Thirsty Merc, The Whitlams, Carus, Richard Thompson and many talented Perth acts who have helped me out along the way notably Nathan Gaunt and Dave Mann. In the last year I have toured nationally in support of the illustrious Rufus Wainwright, Brisvegan Andrew Morris and spent 6 weeks on the road from Brisbane to Perth with Tom Cooney and Earl Gray. A song of mine, Taillights, was a finalist in the West Australian Music Awards in 2004.
In recent years I’ve had a fantastic team to help realise the music I have written and to share it with the public. I have collaborated with Josh Pyke, Eskimo Joe, Mcgowan and Melanie Horsnell.
With my regular song changing, picture changing and embarrassingly honest blog writing, there should be enough here to keep you coming back for a spy now and then.
