Rockin' Hendy

About Me

"The beer was a-flowing and the crowd rushed in from the cold as opening act Rockin’ Hendy began. I’ll say one thing.... they’re not called ROCKIN’ Hendy for nutt’n." - Stakkers
"Rockin' Hendy are possibly the least glamourous band on the face of the earth, but they're also one of the best rock'n'roll bands in town, they're very much the dark horse of the scene. They always put on an enjoyable show, mixing in the occasional "77" punk cover (specifically "Born To Lose" [Heartbreakers]) with their own '70s-style rock tunes. The crowd really dug their stuff and called for an encore, and they finished up with a cover of "Teenage Kicks" [Undertones], much to the delight of the punks.... This was an awesome gig with a really diverse crowd and plenty of alcohol. Unfortunately though a riot nearly ensued afterwards" - Ben
"lets bring back the rockin hendy boys to the big stage..." - HeartOfGlassOfBeer
"Our current favourite Perth bands are M-16s, The Fuzz, Jed Whitey,Rockin’ Hendy and the Roaring Mongrels and The Coffins"- PerthMusic
"Good to see some bands that actually know how to turn up their fucking guitars, .....Rockin' Hendy at the Hydey ruled!"- Mongoloid Dave
Rockin" Hendy are:
James Baker - drums
Rik van der Velde - guitar
Lou Mavrantonis - bass and vocals
You can see them play their own brand of original Australian Rock 'n Roll at various watering holes in their native Perth, Western Australia.
Rockin' Hendy love the New York Dolls, Johnny Thunders, the Ramones, Tom Waits, Motorhead, Alice Cooper, ACDC, Rockin' Kenji, Rose Tattoo and the Supersuckers, just to mention a few.....
Here's a recent vid of a leisurely evening at the Hydey:
Live sound mix by Kenji Kitahara, sound of 2 room mics.
And here's a blast from the past: late 90's West Australian Rock'n'Rollers Josephine Killen, members of which went on to form the Volcanics, Rockin' Hendy and the New Invincibles.
Sound is from a camera mic, live soundmix by Kim Goodlett, creative video work by Nancy Jones......:).
