Amy is an ambitious vocalist / lyricist. She has known she wanted to have a career singing in the commercial charts since she was 7. Amy was born in Perth WA, she has however lived in Fremantle her whole life so far. Amy has a French Canadian heritage holding citizenship both here and in Canada. So she has done a fair bit of international traveling in her life and loves it. As a young girl Amy's mother would sing to her songs such as "Alice Blue Gown" and "Some Where Over The Rainbow" to put her to sleep, music and singing has always been a comfort to Amy which only continues to grow. Amy was classically trained from the age of 13 to 18. Her first teacher for 3 years was Christina Riley from the WA Opera Company and the next 2 years was Tayrn Fiebig from the Australian Opera Company. While growing up Amy was in many musical theatre plays with youth theatre companies and school productions, having solo parts in most of them. One of Amy's memorable moments was when she was just 15 and won best overall vocalist in WA for the Star Search competition. Then at 16, she sang the Australian National Anthem solo in front of 8000 people at Perth Entertainment Center to open a basketball game of The Wild Cats vs Woollongong.
Then in 2003 (the year after Amy finished year 12) at 18, Amy studied at The West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in the Commercial / Jazz Department where she really grew as a singer. She learnt phrasing and jazz/blues, making her more versatile. Her already rich Soprano voice, that was used to just achieving technical precise ballads and musical theater strengthened to a more soulful, richer and interpretive voice with a great foundation to assist (thanks to her classical training). Amy had her well known Jazz singing teacher Annie Neil for 2 years while during that time also did raw jazz piano duo gigs around Perth at various hotels, bars, restaurants and functions.
Last year at 21 she travelled to Los Angeles , California USA to attend the annual Seth Riggs Vocal camp. The Seth Riggs method is well known in the entertainment industry. Amy was fortunate to have a class with Seth himself. Seth Riggs has worked with many stars such as Barbara Streisand, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Prince to name just a few. Amy is currently still working on the Seth Riggs vocal method.
Currently, at 22 Amy is working on some original House dance tracks with a very talented producer/ dj by the name of Andy Meiosis. Amy has written the Lyrics and Andy has created the music. Their 1st song is "Why do I care?" and it has been entered in the WAMi song of the year competition and the MUSIC OZ competition. Their other new tracks will be recorded in the next few months, so stay tuned... will be up on myspace music soon:) Amy is also studying her cert 3 in music at central TAFE. She is increasing her knowledge on things such as music theory, music business, song writing and production and much more...
Please feel free to add your self to Amy's friends if you like her music, are a fellow MUSO or INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL. She would be happy to touch base with all of you:)
In the future, Amy hopes to achieve memorable and original sounding pop and dance tracks with some funky R&B/pop songs and power ballads so she can use her voice to its full potential . Another thing Amy would love to accomplish would be to sing a balled or theme song for a Disney movie or Motion picture. Amy is constantly trying to make herself better at her craft and loves music and playing with sounds. She says " music is like a painting, the notes are the colours and the paint palette lets you create and grow"...
