What is BI POLAR DISORDER?Bi Polar disorder is most commonly described as a chemical imbalance in the brain that can be fixed with the proper medication. It can be very difficult to find the right medication for you and sometimes takes a long time to even get use to the medication. A lot of times the patient feels like a zombie, or like a puppet on the outside and though they appear happy to the outside world, still feel sad and empty inside. Does this sound like you? If it does, you need to seek help and are more than welcome to join the support here on this page.Bi Polar disorder is filled with depression and manic mood swings. What does it mean to have a manic mood swing? Do you ever feel so happy you annoy yourself and others to no end because you are SO excited and SO hyper? Well, that's a manic episode. You're in such a euphoric state and you cannot control it. Your mood might change in a matter of minutes, hours or days, and you'll fall into severe depression again. This is why it is called BI POLAR, because you switch between two extremes. Medications, like abilify, help stabalize your mood but can be sedating. You usually have to combine an array of anti depressants, anti psychotics and mood stabilizers in order to handle the manic and depressive moods, but as you can imagine, or might have already experienced, this leaves you feeling better, but not like yourself. I'm not saying don't take your meds, because eventually, the drowiness wears off, for most. Bi Polar will never go away. There is no cure. You may be on medication for the rest of your life, but your family and friends deserve to have you there to live it. I know what it's like to be suicidal. It's on my mind daily, but I can honestly say, it is not a way out. So please, if you feel like hurting yourself, tell someone, get help.
