About Me

Awareness CommentsI am an eternal student who believes that Spirituality has a great deal to do with hope, faith, and love. Mental Health has a lot to gain from hope, faith, and love. Not only when loving others but when loving one's self as well. Mental Illness may bring suffering, but all is not lost! There is a higher power who gives hope, understanding, faith, a personal relationship, and most of all, love. This higher power can be found in the Earth, the Universe, or in one's own heart. For it was Luke who wrote, "Once, having been asked by the Parisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, 'Here it is,'or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you." There are so many verses in so many different texts and religions that teach love, health, wellness, faith, and most of all Hope. The mind, body, and spirit are greatly connected and need balance in the whole. Where we have trouble finding balance in the mind- we can find balance in the Spirit. For the Spirit is what lives in us! And we can and will have great hope from knowing that each of us has a purpose. "For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." Philippians 2:13 "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:6 This means that God will not give up hope for your purpose. Any path that you have gone down, your purpose can still be fulfilled!

I'd like to meet:

Other consumers, those who have suffered from a mental illness, those who are suffering, those who have loved ones who suffer and need support. Let's let the world know that we are not a stereotype, nor will we stand for stigma. We are human beings who began as a spirit, who have a personality, and who just happen to have an illness. Just as others have cancer and diabetes, the brain can be sick as well. However, that does not make us who we are. We are not Depression, Bipolar, Anxiety, OCD, Schizophrenia, Bulimia, Anorexia, etc. These are just the names of a many symptoms which happen to impact our lives. Just as cancer patients are not called "Cancer;" we are not called our illness. We are more than our illness!

CLICK HERE!Here are some very important things one can do to be well. 1)Remember to take one day at a time! 2)Eat healthy, 3)exercise regularly, 4)abstain from alcohol, drugs, caffeine. 5)Go to a psychiatrist (not just a GP). 6)If diagnosed- learn as much as possible about your diagnosis. You are your own advocate; so, don't be passive about your treatment! 7)Go to a therapist/LCSW/Psychologist as much as possible to be evaluated on how you are doing. 8)Attend a support group for interaction. 9)Try not to isolate yourself. 10)Have a plan to call someone incase you feel suicidle (a loved one, friend, hotline.) 11) Get involved in a group or volunteer. I know NAMI would greatly appreciate the help! :) 12) And last but not least: pray, meditate, spend time in nature, feed your spirit, and LOVE yourself.
