MUSIC THE HEALING of PEACE

About Me

Originally from the UK, came to Australia in 1965 with my Mum,Dad,and Brother. I grew up in Adelaide and thats where all of my energies come from. I hope to return to the UK for the first time since I left. Hopefully to play and tour our music.I love making people laugh, and I certainly like people making me laugh.I love surfing and have been doing it for most of my life, although I find it a lot harder these days as I am so tied up with work, and of course my music and lets not forget my wonderful girls.I am a music lover,as music soothes my soul, I have been in several music projects ie Genesis Cover Band Genesis Touch,Pangia John Lennon Memorial in 2005 I was invited to play in the Beatles Festival October 2006. I am currently co-producing,writing, and singing with UNITOPIA, here is my story of the Band.Unitopia is a musical adventure comprising the vocal and song writing skills of Mark Trueack, the production, song writing, keyboard & vocal skills of Sean Timms, the guitar & vocal prowess of Matt Williams, the bass & vocal talents of Shireen Khemlani, the combined drum/percussion batteries of Monty Ruggiero and Tim Irrgang and the remarkable multi-instrumentalism of Mike Stewart. Unitopia endeavours to draw from the heart and soul of the listener, thought provoking topics such as environmental awareness, political and social upheaval, media misrepresentation, the hectic pace of life and human relationships in a positive and uplifting light. Using a progressive rock framework as a basis for Sean and Marks compositions, the pair quickly established a great writing rapport, extending the style to include elements of world, classical, heavy rock and dance. Unitopia began when a mutual friend introduced Mark and Sean after realising the two had very similar musical tastes. In 1997 the duo began work on a track which was to become 'Take Good Care'. This formulated into a prolific and exciting song writing partnership culminating in the completion of their debut album 'More Than A Dream' in 2005. Having a voice rich in character yet undeniably pleasing to the ear, has helped Mark pursue his passion for music & lyric writing. Slotting somewhere between Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Fish and Roger Waters, his powerful, compelling vocals give life to the far-reaching, socially conscious lyrics that are an integral part of Unitopia. With a long and varied career in the music industry behind him, Sean applied all of his vast knowledge of different styles of music, technology and performance into one almighty work that covers everything from Rock to Classical, Ethnic to Dance and beyond. Mark and Sean gathered together some of Australia's finest musicians and singers to contribute to the project, including conductor, arranger and composer Tim Sexton and the Adelaide Art Orchestra, thus ensuring the standard of playing on the CD is second to none. Add to the mix Sean's programming, mixing and arrangement skills and you have a top notch product that compares to any international release. Unitopia are currently in the studio working on their follow up release to 'More Than A Dream' and playing live shows wherever innovative ground breaking music is to be found.Another exciting development is that Unicorn Digital are releasing More Than a Dream worldwide on January 15 2007. We are also getting major record label interest for the new material. Can't say too much at this stage but if all goes well, Unitopia will increase it's profile unimaginably.Online album sales are steady and internet radio airplay is increasing all the time with Swiss Navy Productions introducing us to Progressive Soundscapes radio airplay. Thanks Kenny! Also we send a big thank you to Nicole at Just For Kicks music in Germany and Hansi at Progress Records in Sweden for distributing our CD throughout Europe and other parts of the globe! Also a big thanks goes to JB HiFi who are distributing our CD throughout Australia. So, to all our Aussie fans, you can now get your friends and rellies Christmas pressies of 'More Than a Dream' locally through your nearest JB HiFi store!Work on the new CD is progressing well with the new songs really taking shape. More details coming soon.Revised titles for the tracks and song lengths are as follows: CD1 Angeliqua (9:03) One Day (2:10) Give and Take (4:25) I Wish I Could Fly (6:07) Inside The Power (5:30) Journey's Friend (16:36) The Garden (20:10) This Life (4:28) 321 Hours (5:30) Love never ends (3:10) When I'm Down (5:30) (written by Mark & Matt with a little help from Sean)Bonus CD2 More than a Dream (dance mix) Still Here (dance mix) Ride (dance mix) Fate (dance mix) Common Goal (dance mix) Take good care (alternative mix)The tentative title for the album is 'The Garden' named after the 18 and a half minute epic track based on Heironymous Boch's painting 'The Garden of Earthly Delights'. 321 Hours is the amount of time that Todd Russell and Brant Webb were trapped underground during the mining disaster in Tasmania 25/4/2006. The song is a tribute to their bravery and composure during their ordeal and a possible insight into what they might have been experiencing at the time. 60min will be covering a story on what they are doing now and will feature 321 the single in which they helped make.
