About Me

ProgMontreal is a information website on the latest news in the world of progressive music for the city of Montreal, Qc and its suburbs. You'll find album reviews, concert announcements and concert reviews, contests and useful links. Our goal is to promote Montreal's very active progressive music scene, by encouraging local bands and organizing shows in association with ProgQubec and Unicorn Digital, to ultimately have this city recognized as one of the hubs of the musical genre. What began as a modest promotional effort in early 2005 turned into quite a fun experience when we had the pleasure of bringing great groups to Montreal like Frogg Cafe, Present, Arena, The Flower Kings and IQ, all while getting our local bands like Miriodor, Hamadryad, Karcius, Sense and Vecteur K the attention they deserved so much.Things began on a high note in 2006 with two great events; the Carl Palmer Band in May and the "Festival Des Musiques Progressives de Montreal", a brand new prog festival that featured for its inaugural edition Hatfield And The North, Echolyn, Miriodor, Jerome Langlois (of Maneige), Karcius and Kaos Moon. The 2007 edition of FMPM featured IQ, The Strawbs, Samla Mammas Manna, Nathan Mahl and many more... The event was a resounding success thanks to the hard-working team behind FMPM, the varied and captivating lineup, and the amazing performances by all the artists!Visit us at www.progmontreal.com, and on our prog fest website at www.fmpm.net
