Jason, Stop Snoring!! I'm Not Snoring!! WHAAAAAT!!

About Me

Formed from the ashes of nearly 11 years of playing together, Taurus is the ultimate vision of Jason Nichols (drums, percussion, acoustic guitar, backing vocals, voices, and engineering) and J.J. Lentz (rhythm & lead guitars, mandolin, banjo, steel guitar, electric sitar, bass guitar, keyboards, and vocals).
Since the beginning of 1996, this duo has been drawing the blueprint for the vision comming into fruition today. Through many different names and many different musicians along the way, one constant has always remained. The desire to bring to the entire world it's idea of music. Joined by long time friend and band mate Anson Esquivel (piano, organ, keyboards), the color, emotion, and ideology of Taurus can now be yours. However, this is only the beginning.....
Currently, Taurus are working in their home studio, "Taurean Studios" writing and recording their debut album. As new material and info come available, it will be posted on this page. Everyone is invited and highly encouraged to leave feedback!! Also check out "The Nuclear Tree", J.J. Lentzs' Myspace page for a more classic rock, psychedelic experience! Thanks so much!!! ~Taurus
"Growing up, I was never really into music all that much. As a child and into my early teenage years I was very into sports for the most part. When I reached the age of 15, I got my first real taste of music in the way of a Led Zeppelin album. From the moment I heard the first song, which I believe was Whole Lotta Love, I knew then and there I wanted to be a drummer. I didn't get my first drumset till I was 17. I persuaded my father to part with $300, and from there it's all history. As I began to discover bands like Yes, Genesis, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, and Pink Floyd, I immediately knew what i wanted to do with music. When i met J.J. Lentz in February of 1996, the road to this dream of music took root. I am very excited about the possibilites to come." ~Jason Nichols

Influences:

Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, Camel, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to Forever, Pat Metheney, Rush, The Beatles, The Doors, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Steely Dan, Al Di Meola, Gong, Led Zeppelin, The Allman Brothers, Phish, The Grateful Dead, Chicago, and many, many, many, many more......

Sounds Like:

In many ways, they sound like a lot of the influences listed. However, they also have quite a unique sound of their own, bending and twisting many different styles of music and rolling it all together in a single piece of music. Quite diversified would be a very good way to describe what these guys sound like. No two songs sound alike at all. Very nice transitions, rising and falling melodies with tons of emotion. Much more emphasis on the music rather than vocals. A very, very fresh and new approach comparied to the music out there today. Reaching back to the days of Yes, and Pink Floyd, but also with a very modern feel.
