acousticvids.com was created to offer fans of acoustic music a place where they could view and download video clips of live performances by their favorite artists, as well as explore artists that they have not yet heard of. hey, who knows? maybe you'll find a new favorite today.
the spirit of acoustic music has traditionally been that of sharing between fans, live show trading, and spreading the music. with technology, that becomes both easier AND harder. video streaming capabilities have made file viewing more widespread, but when one user controls the file and only lets other people watch it (not download it), in my opinion, it kind of flies in the face of the spirit of singer-songwriter music. that's why i started this site, at considerable personal expense. :-D i want to try, in whatever small way i can, to support a return to that spirit of sharing, which is one of the things that has made our singer-songwriter world so special.
of course, live clips are in no way a substitute for buying a studio recording or, better yet, actually going out to a show! SUPPORT INDEPENDENT AND LIVE MUSIC! if you enjoy what you hear on this site, drop some cash on the artist. buy a cd. buy a tshirt. get out to a gig. they have worked hard to provide you with art that you will enjoy, and they deserve it. :)
