PRESS
"This young woman has an extremely powerful voice and you can hear her passion belted from it on the four songs contained on this EP. I highly recommend you keep your eye on this girl; she’s destined for big things. This is a great EP to own and I suggest you get your hands on one."
GEOFF DELLINGER, Entertainment World
"Sabrina Taylor offers country-tinged pop/rock that features sweet vocals and tight band chemistry. Her songs are well crafted, catchy and fun. Nova Scotia’s loss is definitely our gain. Taylor should have a very promising future here in L.A." MUSIC CONNECTION REVIEW, Bob Leggett
..
"There’s a great deal of wannabe musicians running around Los Angeles with a guitar and a dream. Most of them should get back on the bus and go home to Kansas, West Virginia...where ever it was they boarded that Greyhound. Sabrina Taylor is not one of them." CELEBRITY BABYLON, Bill McCoy
..
"Her powerful lyrics and memorable melodies are what set her apart from other female artists today." WINDSWEPT PACIFIC
I had always dreamed of moving to Los Angeles since I can remember. Music has been a passion of mine since I was able to speak. I have always been into poetry, words, rhyming
and anything to do with describing emotions.
I grew up in a broken home for most of my life. I lived in and out of foster care, back and forth from mother to father and YES, it was hard. But for the most part I was fine because I had two younger sisters and one older brother at the time, to help make the transitions a bit easier (I now have 1 more brother and 4 other sisters, since then).
At the age of 7 I entered into a school variety show and performed in front of my very first audience. It was at that moment that I knew this was something I wanted and needed to do.
I could feel it in my bones, the excitement I felt being on stage was so intense.
Right away I started learning about poetry and started listening to a variety of music from POP (Cindy Lauper, Madonna) to ROCK (Bruce Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac) and good old COUNTRY ( Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Kenny Rogers).
By the age of 13 I had already won a few poetry contests, won many singing competitions and was singing regularly, with two of my sisters, around the province. We called our selves SHIVERS because people would tell us "you girls give me shivers."
At the age of 16 things started getting harder at home so I finished high school, got a job and moved out on my own. I had also joined a band called ROSEMADDER, a rock band that allowed me to open my mind with my song-writing. I started writing darker material. ( I was into the Cranberries).By the summer of my 17th birthday, I had planed on moving to Toronto to further pursue my musical career. I felt I had toped out where I was, selling out local clubs and I was jonesing for a bigger pond to swim in. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the move fell through. The timing was off and things just weren’t lining up for me. I was devastated, pissed and decided to take this time and go to college.I studied business at the local community college for a year and that summer, a NEW door opened up for me. A door that I had always dreamed of walking through. It was the door to Los Angeles. In August of 2001, I packed my bags, said my goodbyes and left Nova Scotia for the first time in my life. I didn’t know what to expect. I just KNEW that this was the way it was meant to be. It all made since to me now, why the Toronto move didn’t happen.
I came to Los Angeles on my own, with $2000 to my name. It was a very rough, first 2 years, having to deal with getting a green card and finding a job. I was scared but also excited because this felt like home to me more than any other town I lived in.Last year I released my first US EP titled "CAN’T GO HOME". It is produced by myself and best friend/Producer Jonathan Mesh. It is a CD about my journey to LA.
It did extremely well and It sold many copies and is still selling digitally.Today, I am working on a full length album with producer EVAN BEIGEL from SEA SOUND STUDIOS in North Hollywood. I had met with many producers who were interested in doing an album with me, but it was Evan who stood out the most. He was the first producer to show some REAL interest in ME; who I was and my musical style. He didn’t want to turn me into something I wasn’t. He believes in me one hundred percent and I feel the same with him.We are working on getting the album ready for the summer of 2008.
The songs are VERY strong and powerful.
This album will be an album to remember. I can’t wait for it to be out.
I have been singing, writing and playing music for 15 years. It has been the ONE thing that has kept me sane in this very crazy world.
I am so grateful for where I am today and to have the ability to do what I love.Thank you to all of you that have been supporting me from day one and thank you to those who are new. I hope to reach as many people as I can with my music and my story.BIG HUGSABRINA TAYLOR..
