MEDIA & FAN REVIEWS:
At the Back of the North Wind Review by Anna Maria St. Jarnell
Jennifer Grassman’s debut takes its title and inspiration from a fantasy novel by George MacDonald.
Her evocative songs and piano playing are at the center of the album.
“Truth is fulfilling†is a strong song, Grassman’s lovely voice at its best. A slight Tori Amos influence can be felt.
“Time†is lush and sweeping, Grassman managing to harmonize with herself nicely.
“Pretty Girls†is haunting and plaintive; Grassman singing of a great sadness. The song rises to a dramatic pitch and becomes all the better for it.
“Mourning Star†is another highlight, Grassman making a classic piano-led ballad, with intriguing lyrics.
This album’s a strong debut.
I really think that your music is very revitalizing and your voice, well, it's very hypnotizing to me. I love your music and listen to it often especially during this time of needing motivation to pack for our BIG move. Thanks Jennifer and maybe one of these days I can see you in concert but for now I will accept just listen to your CD. Please keep your music coming. Can't wait to hear and get your holiday CD.

At The Back Of The North Wind Review, March 2007.
A collection of beautifully crafted songs encapsulating a number of themes from fantasy (the title track), blood-thirsty demons (Pretty Girls), sadness and loneliness (I Waited So Long) to missing children (Jonna).
In Jennifer Grassman, Tori Amos meets Sarah McLachlan meets Kate Bush.
A stunning, sometimes haunting voice accompanied by beautiful piano playing.
I have played this cd a number of times and I am totally captivated by it. I can highly recommend it to you. I would love to hear these songs performed 'live'.
