BIOGRAPHY
Daniel Capelletti was born on 20 September 1958 in Luxemburg. He has played the piano since he turned 3. At the age of 13 he became a student of the Brussels Royal Conservatoire of Music in the class of maestro Eduardo del Pueyo. He graduated 7 years later, having obtained all the diplomas for instrument, theory and composition.
He is laureate of several international piano competitions both in Belgium and abroad (Italy, Spain); he has won three times the Sabam Prize for composition of the Queen Elisabeth's International Musical Competition.
He has performed in numerous concerts and recitals all over Europe (Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, Germany, Hungary, Poland, etc.)
Selected works: Cariatides for violin and piano (1985), Aquarelles for symphonic orchestra (1986), Reeds for 28 single reed instruments, a piece created by the "Musique des Guides" in 1997, Sven, symphonic tale based on the novel of Pierre Coran (1998), Anamorphose for string quartet, created during the Ars Musica Festival 2001, Suite latino-américaine for violin, guitar, accordeon, piano and double bass, commissioned by "Soledad" (2002), Ge(r)ms for alt sax and piano, imposed piece of the International Sax Competition in Dinant 2006. Transience, a symphonic piece written in 2007, dedicated to the Tulse Luper Suitcase's story of Peter Greenaway.
Numerous collaborations in all musical genres both as a pianist and a composer and arranger ; classic (Julia Migenes, José Van Dam, Philip Webb, Wilfried Van Den Brande), jazz (Philippe Catherine, Bruno Castellucci, Marta Mus), pop (Roger Hodgson, Philippe Lafontaine, Maurane, Annie Cordy, Alec Mansion), film music (Melissa Errico, Mary Carewe, Michael Dore), etc.
Teaching: from 1980, piano at the music school of Zaventem; from 1993, at the Brussels Royal Conservatoire (1993-1997: musical analysis; since 1997: composition).
