The SafeRide America Program
SafeRide America is a program of the National Council for the Prevention of Impaired Driving (NCPID) created to help solve the impaired driving problems we all face. This program combines three unique public services that have only one goal; to get impaired drivers off our roads, no matter the reason for impairment.
SafeRide America offers a fee based driver-for-hire service for you and your car. Our professional drivers work in teams of two. One driver will drive with you in the comfort of your own vehicle while the other driver follows behind in the chase car. SafeRide Service is available at any location that serves alcohol, as well as hospitals, medical facilities, doctor/dentist offices, golf courses and private parties. SafeRide Service is less than a taxi and gets your car home too. As a non-profit, our mission comes first. If money is an issue and you can't afford to pay for the service...that's ok. We'll take you home anyway. All you have to do is call.
Although the goal of SafeRide America is to pro-actively prevent all types of impaired driving, arrests from DUI/DWI as a result of alcohol consumption are currently at epidemic levels. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) 1 out of every 135 licensed drivers (or 1.4 Million people) in the United States is arrested for driving under the influence each year. (Source: NHTSA Annual Traffic Safety Facts)
The SafeRide America program gives anyone an opportunity to be a responsible consumer of alcohol by offering society new "tools" to get themselves AND their cars home safely. As much as the need clearly exists, until now, there have been no real viable options.
The SafeRide America program is a social enterprise designed to prevent impaired driving while creating a source of funds for the non-profit program to grow. SafeRide America consists of 3 distinct services;
1. SafeRide Service- A professional driver-for-hire service using teams of two drivers to drive impaired individuals and their cars for them for less than a taxi and for free in an emergency 24/7
2. SafeChauffeur - Rent a driver by the hour to drive you and your own car
3. SafeParty - Rent dedicated teams of drivers for private parties and events
Below is a list of benefits provided by SafeRide America through SafeRide Service, SafeChauffeur Service, and SafeParty:
• Individual People benefit by having a real and viable alternative to driving while impaired. Our SafeRide Service gets you and your car driven anywhere safely for less than a taxi. This public service effectively eliminates the excuse of wanting to have your car with you and lack of money as a reason to drive impaired. SafeRide America eliminates the potential for someone to risk exposure to arrests, convictions, or injuring themselves or the general public.
• Club/Bar/Restaurant owners benefit by taking a generous step toward the protection of staff and patrons by reducing potential liability from impaired driving crashes after patrons leave an establishment "under the influence".
• The community benefits in that fewer impaired persons are behind the wheel with the potential to harm themselves or the general public. Streets are safer and lives are saved. Tax dollars go unspent as there are fewer governmental responses to impaired driving crashes/tragedies.
• The children benefit in receiving needed assistance with housing, clothing, school supplies, and medical attention through SafeFund.
Proceeds generated from this earned income activity will be used in two ways:
• To support and expand the SafeRide America Programs and Services.
• To provide an ongoing funding stream for SafeFund.
The SafeRide America program effectively provides a proven answer to stopping impaired driving incidents before they happen.

Who is the National Council for the Prevention of Impaired Driving and SafeRide America?

The National Council for the Prevention of Impaired Driving (NCPID) is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit public service agency headquartered in Atlanta serving the needs of impaired drivers by providing proactive transportation solutions to help eliminate the impaired driving problems that put us all at risk. Our goal is to provide the public with the necessary tools to safely handle the impaired driving issues we all face. To accomplish this goal we created the SafeRide,, America Program, a year round program dedicated to driving impaired individuals AND their cars for them.

Our core objective is to provide a viable alternative to driving while impaired by utilizing volunteerism and social enterprise to enable society to protect its communities by preventing impaired driving tragedies before they happen.
