About Me

If a disease were killing our children in the proportion that crashes are, people would be outraged and demand this killer be stopped." C. Everett Koop . . . . .. . To Purchase " It's NO Accident" please go to www.crashprevention.orgResearched and written by the founder and executive director of the Partnership for Safe Driving, "It's No Accident" documents outrageous policies and practices in both the government and private sector that are now largely responsible for the more than 11 million crashes, 3 million injuries, and 40,000 deaths on our nation's roads each year. The book reveals that, far from simply choosing to ignore dangerous driving, the government has decided to look the other way while companies large and small promote and encourage dangerous driving behavior; all for profit. The results have been disastrous."It's No Accident" includes the heart-wrenching real-life stories of victims of all different forms of dangerous driving. The book also takes a candid look at the fragmented, ineffective approach to grassroots activism that has so far defined the crash prevention movement, and offers an alternative model.Carefully researched and documented, with more than 270 footnotes, this book is a must-read for anyone concerned about violent death and injury on our roads and how to stop it.. .. . . . . . More than 11 million crashes take place on U.S. roads every year, resulting in more than 2.6 million police reported: injuries and more then 40 THOUSAND deaths. Unfortunately, most serious crashes are not accidents. They are the direct result of dangerous driving. The Partnership for Safe Driving is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating all forms of dangerous driving. REMEMBERING ALL THE ANGELS TAKEN TOO SOON . . . .
Free LED Scroller Generator . .
. .Local, state, and federal transportation agencies no longer are trying to prevent crashes. They are trying to make them safer. This mission is failing. The incidence of death and serious injury is going up, not down. The Partnership would like to redirect our nation's attention and resources to preventing crashes from happening in the first place.I started this Myspace in honor of all the people in the U.S. who have been killed in motor vehicle crashes. This page is intended to serve as a living online memorial for members and supporters of Crashprevention.org whose loved ones have been seriously injured or killed on our roads.I joined Crashprevention.org in 2004 after my 14-year-old son Tyler was killed while riding his bike on a bright sunny day. He was coming home from his friend’s house, and was hit by a motorist with a history of speeding violations. The motorist was required to pay only a small fine for my son’s death. He received no jail time, nor any other penalty. Afterward, he continued to speed and receive speeding tickets, but the government has allowed him to go right on driving, with no additional penalties. After my son’s violent death, I set out to find some relief from my anger and pain. I knew I needed to make a difference somehow. I contacted Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and spoke to a few people there. But when I told them that the driver who killed my son was not tested for alcohol and was not suspected of being drunk, the people at MADD quickly lost interest in my case. I received no support from them of any kind. Apparently in their eyes, the driver was not a criminal. He was “just speeding.”So I felt abandoned again! I felt like there was nobody to turn to. I kept searching the Internet, thinking to myself, “There has to be some organization out there that I can join and help.” I couldn’t bear to think that Tyler’s death would be in vain. After months of searching, finally I found Crashprevention.org (also known as The Partnership for Safe Driving). I wrote the founder of the organization, and then spoke with her by phone. I remember saying, “I AM SO GLAD I FOUND YOU!” Until now, nobody wanted to hear my story. NOBODY wanted to hear that the driver was “just speeding.”Crashprevention.org cares not just about drunk driving and failure to buckle up but about ALL forms of dangerous driving, including speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving, drowsy driving, drug-impaired driving, age-impaired driving, and dangerous practices in the trucking industry. Crashprevention.org wants the government and private sector to dedicate as much energy and resources to these problems and they dedicate to drunk driving and seatbelt campaigns. So I have found a home with Crashprevention.org. With the organization’s blessing and support, I have created this Myspace as a living online memorial for supporters of Crashprevention.org whose loved ones have been seriously injured and killed in crashes. If you have a picture of a loved one that you would like to have included on this page, please send me a copy, along with a paragraph about the person (e.g. their name, age, date of the crash, cause of the crash if known, location of the crash, and extent of their injuries).More than 42,000 people die on U.S. roads each year, more than 3 million are injured! This ongoing national tragedy is swept quietly under the rug and is rarely even spoken of in public by our elected officials.Together, we can give a name and face to each and every one of these victims, and force our government to acknowledge and address this silent, violent epidemic. So let us honor our loved ones and stand up and make that change ONE PERSON at a time!
