From AOL's Cityguide: Those yearning to hang in a nightclub with a New York City sense of style and sophistication have a Southern solution. Stashed in the basement of the Prohibition-era Biltmore Hotel, Halo Lounge has the feel of a modern-day speakeasy complete with a nondescript steel door. But once you pass through Halo's unadorned portal you enter a world of modernist opulence: black Saarinen ''Womb'' chairs, floating cafe tables suspended from a wood paneled wall and, occupying center stage, the best bar in Atlanta. We're not talking about the room, we're talking about the glowing monolithic "bar," constructed of back lit onyx, setting the stage for a mellow happy hour and an energized, DJ-lovin' late-night crowd. The owners of Halo know how to lure the ultra-hip, and after creating the Fountainhead Lounge in East Atlanta, they know that location isn't everything. With that said, the location for Halo couldn't be more ideal. Just off the Midtown Design District's main thoroughfare on Peachtree Street, which includes stores like Retromodern.com, Ligne Roset and Space, Halo's blend of minimalist style and city-cool compliment the aesthetic location. You'll find Halo on the Sixth Street side of the Biltmore in Midtown. But don't drive too fast or you might miss it.
