Dont drink and drive youll wreck your ride !!My story is not for the weak at heart !!June 19 2003 1:00 am NB 2 Fwy at Mountain Glendale, Ca. Some might say it was a bad day but I say it could have been worst.
I was called out to a t-4 codeword used by AAA tow truck drivers for someone out of fuel, when I arrived I gave him gas, but his car wouldnt start, I jumpstarted the car but before I could say crank it, we got hit by a drunk driver.
Mr. Choon suk Ro he was wasted drinking with a potential business partner, and while driving home made a huge mistake the kind that no one wants to make but happens too often, RO hit the back of the car I was trying to start, 80 miles per hour no brakes no lights no warning just a big impact his ford expedition skidded about 20 yards on its roof, here I was just trying to do my job just like everyone else, but his mistake pushed the car on to me CRUSHING ME !!. It amputated both my legs above the knee. On impact I fell to the floor I heard someone yelling , (((screaming))) YOU KILLED HIM I thought she was talking to me or that maybe I was the one dying I wasnt sure. I landed right underneath the exaust of the tow truck it was burning my neck.
All I could think of was I need to call for help, the heat was so intense I had to move but I couldnt stand up for both my legs were gone I could see one under the car and the other was bent backwards I didnt know what to make of this , I was still stunned and dazed but I knew it wasnt good.
Mr Ro left the scene shortly after being helped out of his car by mario G a good samaritan he called for help as soon as he saw the accident he was traveling south bound on fwy 2.
Thanks to his help and the quick response from the Glenda Fire Department and Paramedics I'm alive today, I wouldnt be sharing this story otherwise, Its gonna be 5 years this 6/19/08 and two more kids later I live a happy life Thanks to my dear wife of eight years Elva I love her unconditianlly and after all this we have a beautiful family. That I love Ethan 6 Isaiah 3 and Sky 2 well at least I could still have kids I see my life trough their eyes and we have our hands full.
Yeah he took my legs but not my spirit, The will power to want to live and share my story with anyone whos willing to listen, thats how I cope with it by trying to educate about cabs, and designated drivers. It's so easy to drink responsably and save lives maybe even your own, Im working on prostetics (iron legs) so that I can walk again. It's a long and painful process but I believe that anyone has it in them to do great things if you just put your mind to it, stay tuned for more on that. So what if my kids think im a robot most importantly to them I'm DADDY ! and I love every minute of it.
And to anyone who is having a bad day I want to say WE ALL DO. sometimes more than two but like 2 pac said "keep ya head up "! and Kanye said "dat doesnt kill me can only make me stronger" ! Check out the Infiniti too find me in the car scene doin my thing ! Dont drink and Drive Low ride !!
On the serious tip to all those mourning someone I feel you please know that if we all scream hard enough were bound to be heard , its time for a change, lets step up man up and designate a driver.
